Michael Thomas Indicted on Robberies Committed in St. Thomas. A suspect who is in custody awaiting trial for several felonies has been indicted on extra charges, according to police. These new charges are linked to multiple robberies that allegedly occurred in St. Thomas between May 10 and May 30.
The authorities identified the suspect as Michael Thomas, 28, from the Thompson Town district in Mocho, Clarendon.
The police have charged Thomas with three counts of robbery with aggravation. He is also charged with three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon. Furthermore, there are three counts of using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony. Lastly, he faces a charge of assault at common law.
According to the May Pen police, Thomas, armed with a firearm, targeted several businesses in St. Thomas, during which he allegedly robbed them of cash and other valuables.
After receiving reports of the robberies, law enforcement officers arrested Thomas on June 10. They formally charged him after eyewitnesses positively identified him in an ID parade.
The police had formerly charged Thomas with sex related offenses, robbery with aggravation, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
He is expected before the May Pen Parish Court on Monday, July 14.
Police arrest a suspect with a homemade gun in St. Thomas
On Sunday, July 6, 2025, police arrested a male suspect in St. Thomas, Jamaica, after he reportedly retrieved a homemade firearm that was hidden in a tree.
The Morant Bay police stated that, at about 1:00 p.m. on July 6, residents of Danvers Pen, Trinityville, alerted authorities. They saw the suspect brazenly walking along the roadway with a firearm.
The police responded and confronted the suspect. Shortly later, the suspect took the cops to a nearby wooded area. While there, he pointed out a tree where he had allegedly concealed the weapon.
The police ordered the suspect to climb the tree. They wanted him to retrieve the weapon, which was a homemade gun.
The law enforcement officers arrested the suspect and placed him in custody. But the authorities have withheld his identity pending further investigation.
