Bethel Town Shootout: Brothers Among Three Fatalities. Early Wednesday morning, June 18, 2025, police in Westmoreland fatally wounded three men, including two brothers, during an operation. The police said the deadly shooting occurred in the Hermitage section of Bethel Town, and they had recovered two firearms.
The authorities identified the deceased as Jordan Malique Love, who was 23 years old. His 22-year-old brother was Jaeden Mikhail Love. Another victim was Dericko Hayle, a 31-year-old farmer.
According to Area One Police boss, Assistant Commissioner of Police Glenford Miller, the fatalities occurred during two separate police operations.
According to a police report, between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., the police conducted an operation targeting the Love brothers. They are alleged members of the Nation Croc gang based in Montego Bay. They were also persons of interest in multiple murders across Westmoreland and Hanover.
As the police approached the house where the Love brothers were staying, they encountered two men nearby.
When the police ordered them to surrender, the men allegedly opened fire.
And a shootout ensued. When the shooting ceased, the police found the brothers suffering from gunshot wounds. The police also recovered two firearms from the scene of the Bethel Town shootout.
The officers rushed the injured men to the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, where the authorities pronounced them dead.
As law enforcement searched the Bethel town shootout crime scene for evidence. Hayle reportedly rode up on a motorcycle. He seemed unaware of the incident that had just occurred.
The Bethel Town Shootout raised the total number of Jamaican citizens killed by police to 154.
Upon seeing the police, he allegedly turned his bike around and attempted to flee, ignoring police commands to stop.
As a result, the police pursued Hayle. Hayle reportedly engaged the officers in a shootout. When the shooting ceased, the police found Hayle suffering from gunshot wounds.
Hospital authorities later pronounced Hayle dead.
The Independent Commission of Investigation (INDECOM) is probing the deadly Bethel Town shootout.
The deaths of the three men have increased the total number. This brings the number of persons killed in confrontations with the police to 154 since the start of the year.
