Murders are increasing, four cases reported in just two days. On Wednesday, June 18, police in St. James responded to a double murder on Guinep Tree Lane in Montpelier. Individuals fatally shot a teacher. They also murdered a taxi operator.
The victims were identified. They are 32-year-old teacher Vanessa Williams and 36-year-old taxi operator Matthew Chin. Both lived on Guinep Tree Lane.
According to reports from the Anchovy Police Station, at 10:12 p.m., residents heard gunfire and called the police.
Upon arrival, officers found Chin slumped over the steering wheel of a Toyota Voxy motorcar. Williams was lying face down beside the vehicle. Both had gunshot wounds.
Law enforcement transported the victims to the hospital, but the authorities pronounced them dead on arrival.
Investigators have yet to prove a motive for the double murder. The investigation is ongoing.
Taxi Operator Murdered in May Pen
In May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica, unknown assailants gunned down a taxi operator at his home. The shooting occurred on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the police reported.

Authorities identified the deceased as Gary Gordon, 39, of a Sewell Crescent address in May Pen, Clarendon.
The May Pen police reported that at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, residents of the Sewell Crescent community reportedly heard explosions near Gordon’s residence.
At approximately 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, residents visited Gordon’s house to check on him.
When they arrived, the residents found Gordon’s headless body standing next to a Toyota Probox. His head was reportedly inside the vehicle.
The police responded and transported the body to the hospital, where the authorities certified it deceased according to the law.
The police have yet to prove a motive for the gruesome murder. Detectives from the May Pen Police Station are investigating the case.
Up to June 14, a total of 17 murders were recorded in Clarendon.
Portmore shooting left one and three injured
One man was murdered. And three others, including a recording, sustained injuries. This was after gunmen opened fire on a car in the Palms section of Portmore, St. Catherine, on the night of Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

Authorities have not yet identified the murdered victim, who appears to be in his 20s. The other victims, two of whom are also in their early 20s, are from Kingston.
The shooting occurred around 10:20 p.m. Reports indicated that the victims were traveling in a car when armed men approached and opened fire on them.
Authorities reportedly recovered over a dozen spent casings from high-powered rifles at the scene. The Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch is investigating the case.
