KINGSTON, Jamaica – A law enforcement officer was shot and injured along Grants Pen road close to the police station in St Andrew on Saturday morning, February 18, 2023.

According to preliminary reports, at about 6:30 am, the policeman signaled a motorcyclist to stop for a routine spot check. The biker disobeyed the order and opened fire on the law enforcement officer, hitting him in the leg.

The biker escaped, and his colleague took the law enforcement officer to a nearby hospital. His condition is not considered severe.

Chinese businessman shot and injured in St Elizabeth.

The police have reported that a Chinese businessman was reportedly shot and injured during a robbery in St Elizabeth this morning, February 18, 2023.

According to the police, the businessman was driving a Hiace bus along the Ballard’s Valley main road at about 10:30 am when two men rode up on a motorbike and blocked his pathway.

According to the police report, one of the men allegedly disembarked the motorcycle and pulled a gun at the businessman while demanding money. The businessman refused, and the gunman shot him in his right leg.

According to one investigator, it appears that the perpetrators may have followed the man from his business place.

Portland teen charged for allegedly breaking into his school and stealing money.

A fifteen-year-old student of Port Antonio, Portland, is in police custody for schoolhouse breaking and larceny following a school incident on Thursday, February 16, 2023.

Detectives from the Port Antonio police station said that at about 10:39 pm on Thursday, February 16, 2023, security guards patrolling the school compound when they saw two teens in the school cafeteria. Upon seeing the security guards, the teens ran.

The guards chased and apprehended one of the boys while the other escaped.

The security guards summoned the police, and further checks were made. It was then discovered that $19,670 was missing.

The teen was arrested and subsequently charged.
