The police identified the suspect as Mark Lawrence, 33, a plumber from Marl Road in Rose Heights, Montego Bay, St. James.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Marl Road on Saturday, June 7, at approximately 3:00 a.m.

Lawrence and the female complainant broke into a heated argument that turned physical.

During the altercation, Lawrence allegedly pulled a knife from his waistband. He held it to the complainant’s neck. Then threatened to kill her.

In fear for her life, the victim scampered from the scene and notified the police.

The police responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found a knife in Lawrence’s possession.

They confiscated the knife and arrested and formally charged Lawrence.

Lawrence’s court appearance date is pending.

According to media reports, law enforcement operatives seized six firearms and ten rounds of ammunition during an operation in St. Andrew on Friday, May 6, 2025.

Reportedly, at approximately 7:14 p.m. on Friday, June 6, agents from the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) stopped and searched a motor vehicle.

During a thorough search of the vehicle, law enforcement agents discovered several guns, ammunition, and six magazines. They seized the contraband and arrested the driver of the vehicle.

The authorities have not released the suspect’s name. But they confirmed that he is a taxi operator from Duhaney Park in St. Andrew, Jamaica.

The discovery of the six guns adds to the total number of illegal firearms seized. According to reports, the police have confiscated more than 450 illegal firearms since the beginning of the year.
