Car Thief: Suspect Charged With Stealing Car From Church. The police have charged a St Thomas man. He allegedly stole a motor car from a church parking lot on Maxfield Avenue. This incident occurred in Kingston, Jamaica, on April 18, 2025.
Law enforcement identified the car thief as Jaki Pessoa, or ‘Versace Gaad,’ 28, from Grove, Cedar Valley in St Thomas.
Investigators charged Pessoa with larceny of a motor vehicle and malicious destruction of property.
The Half-Way Tree Police reported that on April 18 at approximately 10:45 a.m., the complainants parked and securely locked their vehicles. This included a silver 2014 Subaru Impreza G4. They parked in a church compound on Maxfield Avenue while they attended a worship service.
Upon returning, the complainants discovered that the Subaru Impreza G4 was missing and another car was damaged.
They promptly alerted the police. The cops launched an investigation, which led them to White Horse in St. Thomas. There, they later found Pessoa in possession of the stolen 2014 Subaru Impreza G4.
As a result, the police seized the vehicle and arrested Pessoa. Investigators formally charged him on Friday, May 9, 2025, after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
His court date is pending.
Westmoreland Man Arrested for Pointing Gun at Woman
Detectives in Westmoreland have charged a suspect. He allegedly pointed a gun at a woman during a dispute in his community on April 28, 2025.
The police identified the accused as Lamoy Phillips, or ‘Spragga,’ 27, from George’s Plain in Westmoreland.
Phillips faces charges of assault at common law and using a firearm to commit a felony.
According to the Frome Police, at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Monday, April 28, Phillips and the complainant reportedly broke into a dispute.
During this dispute, Phillips allegedly pulled a firearm from his waistband and pointed it at her.
The complainant later filed a report with the police.
Fearing the wrath of the police, Phillips turned himself in on May 5, 2025. Law enforcement later arrested and charged him. His court date is pending.
Police seized an illegal firearm in Downtown Kingston
On Friday night, May 9, 2025, police arrested a suspect in connection with the seizure of an illegal firearm. The police seized the firearm on Beckford Street in downtown Kingston, Jamaica.
According to the Kingston Central Police, around 11:50 p.m., a team from the City Center Police was conducting a mobile patrol in the area. They noticed a man behaving suspiciously.
Law enforcement approached him, conducted a search, and found a Sarsilmaz 9mm pistol tucked in his waistband. The pistol had a magazine containing nine 9mm rounds.
As a result, officers arrested him in connection with the seizure and placed him in custody.
Nevertheless, the police withheld the suspect’s identity until further investigations are completed.
