Corruption Scandal: Four Narcotics Cops charged. The Jamaica Constabulary Force has filed corruption-related charges against four of its members. All four individuals are assigned to the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division. The authorities formally indicted the men on Tuesday afternoon, April 8, 2025, for their alleged involvement in corrupt activities.

The authorities formally indicted the men on Tuesday afternoon, April 8, 2025, for their alleged involvement in corrupt activities.

Those charged are Detective Sergeant James Dawes, Detective Corporal Tamela Anderson, and Detective Constable Shane Givans. The police also charged former Constable Lakarie Barrett, who has resigned from the JCF.

Corruption scandal. The authorities charged the officers after an investigation conducted which was by the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB)

Law enforcement officials charged the accused cops under the anti-gang legislation.

The Police High Command has not released the details of the Corruption scandal. However, unconfirmed reports showed that IPROB had initiated an investigation into alleged corruption and drug-related activities involving the four individuals.

The Director of Public Prosecutions ruled that the police should charge the officers under the Anti-Gang Act for the corruption scandal. This decision was confirmed by their attorney, Christopher Townsend.

Mr Townsend said the police accused his clients of extorting a suspect. The Narcotics Police were investigating this suspect for using a courier service to send drugs overseas.

The investigation is ongoing.

Cops in Trelawny have charged a teacher with unlawful wounding. This occurred after a fight at a bar in his community. The incident took place in the Stetting district in Albert Town, Trelawny, Jamaica.

Law enforcement authorities identified the accused as 34-year-old Geovanni Johnson.

The Falmouth police reported that at about 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, a man was among a group of persons at a bar when Johnson entered. Moments later, Johnson and a patron started a verbal confrontation that turned into a fight.

During the fight, Johnson reportedly used an object to hit the complainant on the right side of his head. This caused a wound that bled.

Law enforcement responded, launched an investigation, and transported the complainant to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators later arrested and charged Johnson for the offense.

His court date is pending.
