Public Outcry: INDECOM Probes Cop’s Killing of Ribbiz Worker. The shooting of a Ribbiz worker by an off-duty policeman has sparked public outcry and allegations of police brutality.

As a result, The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into the shooting, which has led to significant public outcry.

Reportedly, Jermaine Richards, 40, a late resident of Fleet Street in Kingston, was allegedly shot and killed by an off-duty cop. The shooting reportedly occurred in the parking lot of the Ardenne Emirates Plaza located on Ardenne Road, Kingston 10.

INDECOM appealed to anyone who saw the shooting to contact them as part of addressing the public outcry.

Also, INDECOM has emphasized the importance of having independent witnesses and video recordings during the investigative process.

To aid in this effort, INDECOM urges witnesses to report any photos, videos, or information related to the shooting incident.

This information can be shared via INDECOM’s WhatsApp number (876)553-0000. Alternatively, individuals can visit or contact the commission’s office at 876-968-1932 or 876-968-8875.

Additionally, INDECOM appeals to the original creators of any video recordings to reach out to the commission amid the public outcry.

The oversight body assures family members and the general public that a thorough investigation is underway. Also, INDECOM intends to pursue all reasonable and necessary lines of inquiry.

On Thursday, family members of Richards and residents of Fleet Street held a protest to increase public outcry. The protesters alleged the cop killed Richards in cold blood. They questioned the circumstances of his death, which has fueled the outcry.

Public outcry continues. They claimed the police officer shot Richards during an alleged dispute with the cop. Also, they asserted that Richards’ employer has unanswered questions about the incident.

Meanwhile, the management of Ribbiz Ultra Lounge posted a statement on Instagram expressing their shock and deep sadness. They mourned Richards’ tragic and untimely death and described him as a hard-working and dedicated individual.

“Despite public outcry he was NEVER accused of theft and has NEVER been involved in any dispute with any Director, Manager, or Co-worker on that night or any other time. INDECOM is doing a thorough investigation as they always do… May his soul rest in peace,” it said in the post.
