The St. Andrew North Police detained several suspected gang members. They seized one high-end motor vehicle. This occurred during a joint police-military operation in St Andrew on Wednesday.
Law enforcement reported that the operation covered several communities, including 100 Sunrise Crescent and Whitehall Avenue.
The operation, which reportedly targeted persons suspected of being gang members, started at 5:00 a.m. and continued into the afternoon.
Crimes and Criminals Report. Divisional Commander, Deputy Superintendent Randy Sweeney told the media that the police would relentlessly pursue criminal suspects and gang members.
Deputy Superintendent Randy Sweeney said the police will not allow criminals to use his division as a safe haven.
He urged law-abiding citizens to share information with the police. They should report the whereabouts of strange persons and criminal suspects. Also, report illegal firearms to the police via 119 and crime stop at 311.
Sweeney stated that Wednesday’s operation should remind law-abiding citizens that their safety and security are of the highest priority.
The St Andrew North police seized two illegal firearms in the first three days of the New Year.
The division recorded close to 70 murders in 2024.
Since the start of the year, one murder has been committed.

Crimes and Criminals Report. Police in St Mary have launched an investigation. They are looking into the possible murder of a man. He was found dead with gunshot wounds near bushes in Enfield in St. Mary, Jamaica

Law enforcement identified the deceased as George Malcolm, 62, a farmer of Board Villa in Fort Stewart.
Reports indicated that at about 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, residents in the Dry River community heard explosions and summoned the police.
The police responded and searched the area. During the search, officers found Malcolm’s lifeless body lying face down near bushes.
He was wearing a brown shirt, floral shorts, and striped underwear.
Crimes and Criminals Report. After a close examination of the body, the officers observed what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
However, the cops did not recover any spent casings at the scene.
The officers transported the body to the Annotto Bay Hospital, where the medical staff certified it deceased.
