New Water Supply System for Resident of Port Royal, Jamaica. Residents in Port Royal, East Kingston, will benefit from a new and improved water supply system. This improvement follows the commissioning of a new pipeline in the constituency on Tuesday.
The installation was done at a cost of more than $500 million.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness emphasizes the economic importance of the upgrade. He states that it is a crucial element of the government’s plan to develop Port Royal as an entertainment destination. This
development will enhance the country’s economy.
Prime Minister Holness speaks at the commissioning ceremony. He reiterates the government’s commitment to improving the water supply system in Port Royal. He states that the upgrade will enhance access to potable water for both residents and visitors.
The new water supply system was installed for $533 million.
According to Prime Minister Holness, the upgrade is one of several improvements to the sunken city.
Aside from the new water supply system, PM Holness highlighted other improvements to Port Royal
Mr. Holness highlighted other improvements, like the facility for docking cruise ships and the facility to accommodate cruise ship visitors. Plus, there are new customs and pier facilities and new restaurants.
Additionally, the Prime Minister also mentioned pending improvements in the sewage system and the roads.
Further, Mr. Holness reaffirms the government’s strong commitment to making Port Royal an economic hub. This will be achieved through strategic investments and infrastructure improvements.
Finally, Prime Minister Holness said Port Royal is a festival and entertainment destination. Still, the government would have to make the necessary investments.
Also in attendance was Minister Matthew Samuda who is responsible for water. He highlights that commissioning a new water supply system in Port Royal demonstrates the government’s commitment. This action fulfills its promises.

Phillip Paulwell, the Member of Parliament for East Kingston and Port Royal, says now is the perfect time. He believes it is time to upgrade Port Royal.
