Jamaica Mourns: Tributes flow for Journalist Barbara Gayle’s. Veteran journalist/court reporter Barbara Gayle was discovered lifeless in her home at Caymanas Country Club, St Catherine, on Tuesday.
The police reported that concerned residents observed it was unusual for Gayle not to come out and speak with them after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
As a result, they went to check on her and stumbled upon her lifeless body in her home.
Senior Superintendent of Police Christopher Phillips, who oversees Police Area Five, said Gayle was stabbed multiple times in the neck and suffered a blow to the head, possibly from her attacker.
Additionally, her vehicle and cellphone were likely taken by the killer, who police suspected was someone Gayle knew.
Reportedly, Gayle was last seen sometime after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, having a conversation with an unknown gentleman.
The police stated they are pursuing strong leads to apprehend the individual responsible for the murder of veteran journalist Barbara Gayle.
Aside from been a journalist, Gayle was widely known for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. She is accustomed to sharing a prayer on social media daily.

As news of beloved journalist Barbara Gayle’s brutal murder circulated, Jamaica mourns her passing, as tributes poured in.
According to The Gleaner, where she worked, Gayle’s career spanned over four decades as the nation’s pre-eminent court reporter.
She chronicled cases across parish courts, circuit courts, the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal, and even the Privy Council in the United Kingdom.
Her column, ‘Legal Wranglings’, addressed complex legal issues, earning her the 1997 Press Association of Jamaica Community Service Award. She also received a regional award from the Caribbean Association of Media Workers.
That same year, she was named Journalist of the Year for her brave reporting. She worked diligently on a Supreme Court case where a rape victim was imprisoned for speaking “too softly.”
Gayle’s exposé prompted widespread protests, leading to the victim’s release and the installation of public address systems in courtrooms.
Among those who are shocked and saddened over the barbaric killing of Barbara Gayle are Prime Minister Andrew Holness and members of the Government, Opposition Leader Mark Golding, and numerous members of civil society.
