Alleged Cop Killer Caught At NM Airport Trying To Flee Jamaica. The police apprehended one of the suspects implicated in the slaying of Corporal Christopher Smith at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Wednesday, December 11.

Senior Superintendent of Police Stephanie Lindsay confirmed the arrest in an interview with the Jamaica Observer. She mentioned the suspected individual attempting to flee was the alleged cop killer.

According to Lindsay, the police arrested the alleged cop killer in the departure section of the airport, he was trying to leave the island.

The police did not reveal the suspect’s destination, but unconfirmed reports indicated he was heading to the Bahamas.

So far, the police have not released the suspect’s name, which suggests the investigation is ongoing.

Corporal Smith, 47, was assigned to Trench Town Police Station in the Kingston Western Division. He was shot dead at the Texaco gas station on Beechwood Avenue in St Andrew.

Reportedly, Corporal Smith was off duty at the time of his demise.

According to the Halfway Tree Police, at approximately 10:54 p.m. on Friday, December 6, Smith drove his private vehicle to the petrol station to buy fuel.

Unbeknownst to Smith, he had entered the scene of an ongoing robbery at the premises.

As soon as Smith pulled up beside a pump, one of the five alleged gunmen instantly approached his vehicle, who was the suspected cop killer.

The alleged gunman proceeded to open the driver’s door of Smith’s car, reportedly saw his firearm, and opened fire at him, hitting him several times. Then, he relieved the officer of his firearm.

Afterward, the alleged cop killer and his cronies escaped in a vehicle resembling a taxi.

Some concerned members of the public assisted Smith to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.

Reportedly, the robbers held up some pump attendants outside and took cash. They also held up and robbed the cashier inside the premises.

As news of the suspect’s arrest in the cop killing spread, some social media users celebrated and commended law enforcement for implementing a system that allowed for speedy apprehension. They were relieved that the alleged cop killer was caught.
