School Beating Incident: Police Arrested 17-Year-Old Boy. On Friday, police arrested three suspects, including a 17-year-old boy. The police made the arrests in connection with the beating of a young male student from Hopewell High School.
Law enforcement believed the 17-year-old boy was the instigator of the brutal beating.
According to reports, the accused teens are from volatile Hanover and St James communities.
So far, the police have only charged the 17-year-old boy. He faces the charge of assault occasioning bodily harm. His court appearance date is December 3, 2024.
It is unclear whether or when the police will charge the other suspects.
The police said the first incident unfolded on Monday, November 25, and again on November 27, as the complainant walked from school.
According to the JCF, on Wednesday afternoon, Amir Campbell and several other students reportedly attacked the young boy behind a Church near the Orchard community. They allegedly kicked him in the head, neck, and back. Also, Campbell reportedly slapped him in the face several times, causing swelling and pain.
Campbell and the others reportedly threatened the complainant, warning him not to report the incident.
He remained silent until November 27, when he was again reportedly assaulted by Campbell and company at the exact location.
Somebody captured that incident on video and posted it on social media, where it went viral.
Additionally, Area 1 detectives are searching for two other suspects believed to be involved in the incident.
They seek the public’s assistance in finding the others allegedly involved in the incident.
Police Seek Help for Fugitive Escapee in St Mary
On Friday, law enforcement in St Mary launched a search for a fugitive who escaped custody while attending court.
The police identified the escapee as Oshane Scott, o/c’ Chin Chin,’ age 31, a Manchester Lane, Cox Street resident in Port Maria.

Reportedly, Scott was waiting to appear before the Port Maria Circuit Court on charges of attempted rape, larceny, assault at common law, and unlawful wounding.
Law enforcement authorities said Scott escaped at about 9:05 a.m. He made the break while being escorted by a police corporal from the restroom back to the holding area.
The authorities said Scott reportedly assaulted the corporal during the escort and fled through the main gate onto Warner Street.
Reportedly, officers on duty immediately gave chase, but the fugitive evaded capture and remains at large.
Meanwhile, colleagues transported the corporal to the Port Maria Hospital, where the staff treated him for his injuries.
Law enforcement said Scott had been in custody since February 21, 2024.
The police said Scott, who had a small tattoo on the right side of his neck, is also wanted on a threat warrant.
They urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the police at 119, Crime Stop at 311, the NIB Tip Line at 811, or the nearest police station.
