Investigators allege that Donna Marie Green-Mitchell held more than J$250 million in properties on behalf of her late nephew. He was a convicted drug trafficker in the United States.

Matthew Hyde, a former university student, has entered a guilty plea to charges of assault linked to the prolonged captivity and torture of his ex-girlfriend over a year ago. He was remanded for sentencing scheduled to take place on October 25 in the Home Circuit Court.

At the age of 21, Hyde pleaded guilty on Wednesday to multiple charges including assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, use of malicious communication, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and false imprisonment.

As a student of the University of the West Indies, Hyde faced charges stemming from an incident where he held his ex-girlfriend captive in his dorm room at George Alleyne Hall for three days and allegedly subjected her to torture using a hot clothing iron and other implements.

The victim was reportedly found shortly after 10 p.m. on February 9, 2023.

It is alleged that Hyde inflicted injuries upon the complainant following accusations of infidelity.

Attorneys Patrick Peterkin and Gnoj McDonald are representing Hyde in this case, while Please Obika Gordon is observing the proceedings on behalf of the complainant.

Member of Parliament for Western Hanover, Tamika Davis, has announced that law enforcement agencies are intensifying their presence in Harding Hall following a tragic triple murder that transpired in the community on Tuesday.

Harding Hall, located within the Green Island police jurisdiction, has been identified as a crime hotspot in the parish.

The victims of two separate fatal shootings on Tuesday have been named as 61-year-old Melvin Davis, 45-year-old Andre Colley, and 43-year-old Stacey-Ann Williams.

The first shooting occurred at 10:30 PM, resulting in the death of Melvin Davis at his residence. Shortly thereafter, at 10:55 PM, Colley and Williams fell victim to gunmen at their own home.

Authorities have confirmed that an extensive investigation is underway. The Major Investigation Division (MID) is also collaborating with local police to aid in this inquiry.

MP Davis noted a decline in murder rates in Hanover since the beginning of the year, highlighting the ongoing efforts to enhance community safety.

A prisoner executed a calculated escape from the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court during a routine court appearance on Thursday.

The individual, who appeared in court on a bench warrant, managed to flee the courtroom, prompting an immediate and coordinated response from law enforcement agencies. This incident occurred in the downstairs area of the courthouse, where the prisoner, whose identity remains undisclosed, seized the opportunity to exit rapidly.

Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force quickly commenced a pursuit and successfully recaptured the individual just a few meters away on Maxfield Avenue. The prompt and effective actions of the officers ensured that the situation was swiftly managed, resulting in the fugitive being returned to custody without further complications.

Several individuals, including hotel workers, sustained injuries in a distressing three-vehicle collision along the Salem main road in Runaway Bay, St Ann on Thursday.

Thankfully, there have been no fatalities reported thus far. However, local authorities stated that about 19 people are now receiving treatment in the hospital for various injuries.

Preliminary reports suggest that shortly before 3 p.m., a Toyota Probox motorcar and a Toyota Coaster bus, which was carrying hotel workers, were traveling westward on the roadway. At one point, the driver of the Probox apparently made a right turn and unfortunately collided with an ambulance heading in the opposite direction.

As a result, the ambulance, which was not transporting any patient collided with the Coaster bus, causing significant damage to the emergency vehicle.

Fortunately, compassionate passers-by rushed to assist the injured individuals, helping them reach the hospital for the care they need.
