Jamaica DJ Charged with Assault and Firearm Offenses: Latest Updates.

WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – A disc jockey from Westmoreland, identified as Zavian Briscoe, aged 40, has been charged with assault and firearm-related offenses. The charges stem from an incident in which he allegedly pointed a gun at a woman and struck her with a metal object.

The police have charged Briscoe with assault at common law, possession of a prohibited weapon, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

According to the police Corporate Communications Unit, the incident occurred at approximately 10:40 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, when the woman reportedly walked by Briscoe’s house in Red Ground.

It was reported that Briscoe attacked her, pointed a gun at her, and subsequently used a metal object to hit her.

The swift action of the woman in reporting the incident allowed the police to promptly launch an investigation, leading to Briscoe’s arrest on the same day. The accused was formally charged on July 19, 2024, and his court appearance date is pending.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has announced that it is currently conducting an investigation into the recent theft of lumber, which is believed to be of significant value, from the Forestry Reserves near Accompong, in St Elizabeth.

This illegal activity has led to considerable environmental and economic losses, as well as posing a threat to the lives and safety of both state agents and members of the wider community.

Last Friday, on July 19, 2024, agents from the Forestry Department discovered and confiscated piles of illegally harvested mahogany lumber approximately eight miles from Quick Step.

“Regrettably, their efforts were impeded by roadblocks and aggressive actions from unidentified individuals, resulting in the abduction and obstruction of these state agents. This blatant disregard for the law and the safety of public servants is unacceptable. It is crucial to comprehend that these actions constitute criminal offenses against the State,” stated the JCF Corporate Communications Unit in a media release.

The JCF emphasized that the individuals responsible for these “heinous acts” will be apprehended and brought to justice.

The JCF is urging law-abiding citizens in the area to assist in these efforts by providing any information they may have regarding the crimes.

TRELAWNY, Jamaica — Tragedy struck the parish of Trelawny as it witnessed three fatalities in two separate collisions within a span of four hours on the North Coast Highway on Friday, July 26, 2024.

The victims have been identified as Devrol Samuels, 48, a deliveryman from Chatham, St James; Julien Patrick, 49, of Friendship district; and 48-year-old Linwall Adlam of Bunkers Hill, both in Trelawny.

The initial incident occurred at approximately 7:10 a.m. when Samuels, driving a Toyota Voxy on the Coral Springs roadway, collided with a Toyota Wish entering the highway from a minor road. This collision caused the Voxy to veer across the road and crash into a bus stop. Tragically, Samuels succumbed to his injuries, while his passenger was admitted for treatment.

Shortly after, at around 11:30 a.m., another collision took place as a Toyota Voxy attempted to overtake a line of traffic near the Duncans Bypass and collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla. The casualties were Julien Patrick, the driver of the Toyota Corolla, and his passenger, Linwall Adlam, who were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The driver of the Toyota Voxy sustained injuries and was also admitted for treatment.

Both incidents are under investigation by the authorities.

In Morant Bay, St Thomas, a heartbreaking incident unfolded on Saturday as a teenage girl lost her life in a devastating collision. Abrianna Rose, a 16-year-old student from Duhaney Pen, Morant Bay, tragically passed away after the vehicle she was traveling in collided with heavy-duty equipment.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, as the 1991 Toyota Corolla she was a passenger in lost control and collided with the road construction crew’s equipment in Springfield.

Despite the best efforts, Rose succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident. The local authorities in Morant Bay are currently conducting an investigation into this tragic event.

TRELAWNY, Jamaica – Tragedy struck the Trelawny roads once again on the morning of July 28, 2024, as a motorcyclist lost his life in a collision with a truck. The identity of the deceased individual has not yet been disclosed to the public.

Reports indicate that the fatal accident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. on the Coopers Pen main road in Trelawny. The collision took place as the motorcyclist and the truck were traveling in opposite directions.

As a result of the impact, the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and sustained severe injuries, ultimately succumbing to them upon arrival at the Falmouth Public General Hospital. The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
