Spanish Town Police Investigate Tragic Shooting Death of Three-Year-Old Child

Authorities in Spanish Town have initiated a homicide investigation following the tragic shooting death of three-year-old Rojaghn Anthony Hinds in Ebony Vale, St Catherine, on Sunday, July 28, 2024.

It is reported that the father of the deceased, a local businessman, returned home from church and placed his licensed Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol under a couch inside the house. Upon stepping outside to dispose of garbage, he heard a loud explosion and rushed back inside to find the child in his mother’s arms, bleeding from a head wound.

Despite immediate efforts to aid the child, he tragically succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital. The police have since responded, seized the weapon, and launched a comprehensive investigation into this heartbreaking incident.

Law Enforcement Report: Firearms Discovered in Crashed Vehicle

In an incident on Sunday, July 28, 2024, two suspects came under police scrutiny after two loaded firearms were uncovered in the vehicle they were traveling in along the Linstead Bypass in St Catherine.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., a police team from the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch instructed the driver of a Nissan AD motor car to pull over. The driver chose to disregard the directive and fled, prompting a pursuit that culminated in the vehicle crashing along the roadway.

Following the crash, law enforcement officials detained the two occupants and conducted a thorough search of the vehicle, during which they discovered two Taurus pistols equipped with two magazines containing a total of fourteen 9mm cartridges.

Subsequently, the suspects were apprehended, and their identities have been withheld pending further investigative procedures and potential charges.
