ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica— Law enforcement has formally pressed charges against a suspect for murder, stemming from the fatal altercation with 40-year-old Damion Wright in North Hampton, St. Elizabeth, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

The individual in question, identified as 41-year-old Kemon Brooks, a construction worker from North Hampton, stands accused of the killing. The victim, Damion Wright, also a construction worker from the North Hampton community in St. Elizabeth, tragically lost his life as a result of this incident.

According to the report from the Black River police, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a conflict erupted between the two men after Wright allegedly threw stones at Brooks’ residence. This escalated into a physical confrontation, during which Brooks allegedly used a machete to inflict severe injuries on Wright.

Following the altercation, law enforcement intervened and promptly transported Wright to the hospital. Upon arrival, he was pronounced deceased by the authorities.

Brooks was formally charged on Wednesday, July 17, subsequent to a thorough question-and-answer session. The date for his court appearance is yet to be determined.

Detectives from the Whitehouse Police Department in Westmoreland indicted a suspect on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, for the fatal stabbing of a car wash operator during an altercation.

The accused, Ris Wilson, 27 years old, from Gordon district in Whitehouse and Park Mountain district in St Elizabeth, has been charged with murder.

The victim, Simario Smith, also known as ‘Marco,’ 27 years old, was fatally stabbed during an altercation with Wilson on July 13, 2024, at approximately 1:20 p.m. in Rowe Town, Westmoreland.

After the stabbing, the police responded and rushed Smith to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.

Following an investigation, Wilson was apprehended and later admitted to committing the crime on July 16, 2024, leading to his charges.

Wilson’s court appearance date is pending.

A recent report from the Gleaner indicates that law enforcement officers in Hanover fatally shot the parish’s most sought-after suspect during a confrontation in Forest District on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

The individual identified by authorities as Remearo McCallum, also known as ‘Macky,’ aged 33, and a former resident of Cold Spring District in Ramble Hanover, was tragically the subject of this encounter.

The authorities reported the recovery of a 9mm pistol equipped with a magazine containing a single 9mm round at the scene.

A 15-year-old male student from Dias district, Hanover, has been accused of stealing $38,000 worth of beverages from a shop in his community.

The young boy faces charges of shop breaking and larceny.

According to reports from the Lucea police, the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, when the teenager allegedly broke into a shop and made off with a quantity of beverages.

The shop owner promptly notified the authorities, leading to the teenager’s arrest after a thorough questioning.

The teenager’s court date is currently pending.
