Police charged a Bull Bay man with a Clarendon cookshop operator’s robbery and murder.

Cops Charged Mandela Highway Robber and Murder Suspect. On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, cops in St. Catherine, Jamaica, charged a suspect with the alleged robbery and fatal shooting that occurred along the St. Catherine section of the Mandela Highway on June 11. Authorities identified the suspect as Nicholas Bhalai, o/c, 'Coolie Bap,' 24, a laborer of Ferry, district, in St Catherine, Jamaica.

Twenty-one-year-old mechanic Tawayne Douse, also known as ‘Crocs’, from Cane River Road in Bull Bay, St Andrew, has been arrested and charged in connection with the robbery and fatal shooting of a cookshop operator in Summerfield, Clarendon.

Douse faces multiple charges, including robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and the use of a prohibited weapon to commit a felony. The victim, 52-year-old cookshop owner Conry Osbourne, also known as ‘Soljie’, was tragically killed on Friday, May 10.

According to the May Pen police, the incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. on May 10, 2024, when Douse entered the cookshop under the guise of a customer before opening fire and striking Osbourne multiple times. After the heinous act, Douse fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in a waiting vehicle.

Following a collaborative effort between law enforcement officers from Clarendon and detectives in the St Andrew Central Division, Douse was apprehended in the Maxfield area and transported to the May Pen Police Station. Subsequently, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, Douse was formally charged after a thorough interrogation conducted in the presence of two Justices of the Peace.

As the legal process unfolds, Douse’s court date is pending.

Thirty-seven-year-old Michael Walters, also known as ‘Catfish,’ stands accused of fatally shooting a man along Waltham Park Road, St Andrew, in April 2024.

Walters faces charges of murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and conspiracy to murder.

The victim, identified by the police as 24-year-old Shawn Dyer, also known as ‘Puddie,’ hails from Maxfield Avenue, St Andrew.

According to the Half-Way Tree police, at approximately 3:30 p.m. on the fateful day, Walters, accompanied by two others, reportedly attacked Dyer as he stood along Waltham Park Road. Allegedly, the assailants brandished firearms and opened fire at Dyer before fleeing the scene on foot.

Police officers found Dyer with gunshot wounds to the upper body upon arriving at the location. He was swiftly transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following an extensive investigation, Walters was apprehended, and subsequently charged on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, after a formal interrogation in the presence of his legal counsel.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, July 22, 2024.

Police in the St Catherine North Police Division have initiated an investigation following the fatal shooting of a machinist and the injuring of another individual during a gun attack in Spanish Town on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Jason Clarke from Prescilla Way, Angels, Spanish Town, St Catherine.

Reports indicate that at approximately 8:15 p.m. on July 18, Clarke and another man were in conversation near a Texaco service station at the corner of Burke Road and Young Street in Spanish Town when residents heard loud explosions.

Upon investigation by the residents, both men were found to be suffering from gunshot wounds.

Authorities were alerted and promptly transported the victims to the Spanish Town Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Tragically, Clarke later succumbed to his injuries, while the other man continues to receive hospital care.

The Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch is actively probing this distressing incident.

Little London police in Westmoreland charged a construction worker with rape and sexual touching concerning allegations that he sexually assaulted a teen twice between September and December 2021.

The authorities identified the accused as Gerald Whyte, 60, of Retreat District, Little London, Westmoreland.

According to the police, between September and December 2021, a teen girl’s mother allegedly sent her to the accused house several times to collect money.

During one of her visits, Whyte allegedly assaulted her, and on another occasion, he reportedly had sexual intercourse with her against her will.

The victim filed a report with the police and signed a statement.

On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, law enforcement officers conducted a raid at Whyte’s home, where the police arrested and subsequently charged him with offenses.

His court date is pending.
