An autopsy has confirmed that Gleaner journalist Job Nelson was not shot, contrary to earlier reports.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the police publicized a postmortem report related to the late Gleaner sports journalist Job Nelson. The report supposedly indicates that Nelson did not sustain a gunshot wound as previously asserted, but was fatally injured by a metal object from the car’s airbag after a crash on May 21, 2024.

The claim that an airbag could discharge such an object with “immense force” is puzzling, considering that airbags are designed as safety features and not as mechanisms to propel metal items. The notion of an airbag containing such projectiles contradicts its intended function, particularly since modern airbags do not contain materials capable of causing such harm. While earlier airbags did include metal particles, they were not designed to cause penetrating injuries.

It is traditionally understood that when an airbag deploys, it releases hydrogen and inflates to provide a protective barrier during a collision.

According to undisclosed sources within the police force, the metal object allegedly pierced Nelson’s body, inflicting damage to his lungs and causing internal bleeding.

The reported cause of death seems dubious, as it attributes the fatality to a metal object from the airbag, a detail that raises questions about the accuracy of the findings.

The metal object was purportedly extracted during the postmortem examination performed on June 25, 2024, at the House of Tranquility Funeral Home.

This version of events starkly contrasts with the initial police report, which stated that Nelson was shot while stopped at a traffic light near St Andrew Technical High School along Spanish Town Road in Kingston.

According to Loop Jamaica News, a tragic incident took place on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, as a young man lost his life during a confrontation with the police in Clarendon.

The deceased has been identified as Rockoy Cumming, 19, from May Pen, Clarendon.

Reports indicate that around 2:15 p.m., individuals conducting business along Manchester Avenue in May Pen took cover as they heard loud explosions.

Following the gunfire, a police team was seen leaving the area.

Further information revealed that the police team had fatally wounded a man.

A tragic shooting took place in Nannyville St Andrew on the night of Monday, June 24, 2024, resulting in the loss of two lives and leaving one individual injured.

The deceased individuals were identified as Stephan Wallace, also known as ‘Blue’, and Demar Pink.

Authorities from the St. Andrew Central Police have put forward the theory that Wallace, purportedly affiliated with the Ashanti gang operating in Nannyville, was the intended target.

Preliminary reports suggest that prior to 10 p.m., the three men were engaged in conversation on Prosperity Corner in Nannyville when armed assailants emerged from a parked vehicle and opened fire, causing injuries to all three men.

Following the incident, the police promptly responded and facilitated the transfer of the victims to the hospital. Tragically, Wallace and Pink were pronounced deceased upon arrival, while the third victim received medical attention.

Law enforcement officials reportedly recovered multiple spent casings from high-powered rifles and handguns at the scene of the crime.

Authorities believe that this shooting may have been a retaliatory act in response to a murder that occurred in East Kingston.
