New York law enforcement revealed that the fatal shooting of a Jamaican national near a lounge in Queens in May 2024 is believed to be connected to an ongoing feud in Jamaica between Tivoli Gardens and Denham Town in Kingston Western.
According to the report, Kardell Lester, residing in Kingston NY, and a companion were on their way back from the Liquid Lounge on May 4, 2024, when he suffered a gunshot wound to the head in a drive-by shooting.
Mr. Lester, aged 25, was taken to the hospital, where he was admitted for medical treatment. Tragically, Lester passed away at the hospital two days later.
At a press briefing on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny postulated that the shooting was a retaliatory act stemming from an ongoing feud between Denham Town and Tivoli Gardens related to a homicide in 2023.
There have been no arrests, but the investigation is ongoing.

A chef from St. Thomas, who suffered a fatal gunshot wound on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in the Lower York district, passed away from his injuries the following day.

The victim was identified by authorities as 42-year-old Denry Miller, residing on Lower York Main Road in Seaforth, St Thomas.
The incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. as Mr. Miller was walking on York Main Road near Biersay’s Repairs and sustained a chest gunshot wound.
Local residents rushed him to Princess Margaret Hospital, where he later died during treatment.
A man from St Elizabeth has been detained on charges of assault and lottery scamming.
On Sunday, May 19, 2024, a 22-year-old individual was arrested by the police on two counts of assault causing bodily harm and has since been additionally charged with lottery scamming.
The police identified the individual as Carrington Lewis, also known as ‘Q’ and ‘Joe,’ a farmer from the New Building district in St. Elizabeth.
During processing, Mr. Lewis surrendered two cell phones to the police, which prompted suspicion and a request for the phones to be unlocked.
Upon examination, the phones contained names, addresses, and other personal details of people residing overseas.
