MANCHESTER, England (AP)—American female rapper Nicki Minaj made headlines after being detained in the Netherlands by law enforcement authorities. They seized marijuana from her bag at the airport, sparking a wave of controversy.

As a result, her concert in Manchester, England, scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2024, was postponed. 

Promoter Live Nation reportedly rescheduled the event and pledged to honor tickets. 

According to AP, in a tweet on Saturday, May 25, 2024, Minaj passionately explained that the authorities stopped her at the Amsterdam airport as she was about to board a flight for the concert in Manchester. Police informed her they found marijuana in her bags and they needed to weigh it to determine whether it was over the allowable limit.

Cannabis is illegal in the Netherlands, but recreational use is tolerated.

Taxi Operator Fatally Shot Near Linstead in Gun Violence Incident.

Tragically, a taxi operator was fatally shot in the vicinity of Linstead, St. Catherine, during the afternoon of Saturday, May 25, 2024.

Authorities have identified the deceased as Kion Bartley, also known as ‘Rim Head,’ from Bongo Town in the Victoria district of Linstead, St. Catherine.

Reports indicate that community residents heard explosions around noon and proceeded to investigate.

They found Bartley’s lifeless body beside a road, lying in a pool of blood with apparent gunshot wounds.

Police arrived at the scene, conducted an investigation, and transported the body to the morgue, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

No motive for Bartley’s shooting has been determined by the police.

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the Port Antonio Police reported that they recovered a 9mm Smith and Wesson pistol fitted with a magazine containing seven 9mm cartridges during a stop-and-search operation in Rafters Rest, Port Antonio, Portland.

The Port Antonio police stated that at about 2:35 a.m., law enforcement officers initiated a stop-and-search operation in the Rafters Rest community. During the operation, they allegedly removed the weapon from the waistband of a male suspect.

The police took the suspect into custody but have withheld his identity pending further investigations and formal charges.

Duojon Griffiths, 24, implicated in the 2021 murder of 20-year-old Massania ‘Karla’ Malcolm and her one-year-old daughter Jordania, was indicted on murder and gun charges by a Florida grand jury on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

Griffiths, who had been a fugitive for three years following the March 2021 incident, was captured over 1,000 miles away from the crime scene during a routine traffic stop in New Jersey two months ago. Despite altering his appearance from clean-cut to sporting flowing dreadlocks, he was extradited to Florida to stand trial and be held accountable for his actions.

The fatal incidents reverberated through Montego Bay, causing profound shock and distress, particularly in Glendevon, the former residence of Malcolm and Griffiths before their relocation to the United States.

Malcolm’s mother, Latoya ‘Budeisha’ Reid, also living in the United States, was well-known in Montego Bay’s social scene before she relocated.

According to local police reports, Griffiths, who allegedly entered the United States unlawfully, was associated with gang-related activities in Jamaica before relocating to the United States. He is currently accused of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, and three counts of shooting at or into a building.
