A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Westmoreland, Jamaica, as 29-year-old Sharone McDonald faced charges of cruelty to a child following the devastating loss of her eight-year-old son. The young boy tragically perished in a fire at their home in Top Lincoln, Grange Hill, on April 26, 2024.

After the reported accidental shooting of a trainee police officer by another trainee policeman at the Yallahs station in St Thomas on Saturday, May 4, 2024, the Police High Command has initiated an investigation into the incident.

Reports indicate that at approximately 1:20 p.m., a group of trainee policemen was in the station’s kitchen area, participating in an orientation.
One of the trainee constables, who was carrying a Glock pistol, inadvertently dropped the weapon, leading to an unintended discharge of a round as he attempted to retrieve it.
The bullet reportedly penetrated a board partition and struck his colleague in the lower body.
The injured trainee policeman was promptly transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital for medical attention.

A man has been charged in connection with the discovery of a body found wrapped in a sheet along Spanish Town Road.
Neko Gordon, 30, of Rose Town, St Andrew, stands accused by the authorities of heinous crimes. The police charged Gordon on Thursday, May 2, 2024, with murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
According to the police report, on March 23, 2024, at approximately 9:35 a.m., a body was discovered wrapped in a sheet along Spanish Town Road. The victim was identified as 27-year-old Kamory Forbes of North Avenue, Greenwich Farm, Kingston 13.
The authorities are diligently pursuing this case, as Gordon’s court appearance date is pending.
Two Men Arrested After Gun and Ammunition Seizure in St. Elizabeth.
On May 5, 2024, law enforcement officers in St. Elizabeth apprehended two individuals for suspected possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition. This transpired after the seizure of a loaded firearm early Sunday morning.
Reportedly, a police team conducting patrol along the Braes River main road instructed the driver of a Toyota Fielder motor car to halt at approximately 3:30 a.m. The driver cooperated, leading to the processing of the occupants and a subsequent search of the vehicle.
During the search, the officers discovered a Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol loaded with 13 rounds of 9mm ammunition positioned between the front passenger and driver’s seat. The police promptly confiscated the weapon and took the suspects into custody.
However, the authorities have opted to withhold the identities of the individuals pending further investigation.
