KINGSTON, Jamaica—The local authorities have apprehended and formally accused a shop operator in Kingston in connection to the fatal shooting of 38-year-old Clinton Taylor, also known as ‘Parry’, from Princess Street.
Reportedly, a contingent of law enforcement officers was conducting a routine patrol in the area on Monday, February 12, 2024, when they heard gunfire and promptly responded to the source.
Upon reaching the scene, Taylor was discovered on the pavement with gunshot wounds to the head. Despite immediate transportation to the hospital, Taylor’s injuries proved fatal, as confirmed by medical personnel.
A thorough investigation by the police force culminated in the arrest and charging of Onande Lewis-Harriott, also known as ‘Nande’, aged 27, residing at a Princess Street location, during a targeted operation.
Detectives have formally accused Lewis-Harriott of the charges of murder, possession of a prohibited weapon, illegal possession of ammunition, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
The scheduled date for his appearance in court is yet to be determined.

Law Enforcement Officer Injured in Altercation with Suspect
A law enforcement officer sustained a serious injury during an altercation with a suspect he was attempting to arrest in the Old Porus area of Manchester on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. when the officer, who is assigned to the Porus police station, responded to reports of a man threatening a woman in the community. Upon confronting the suspect, the officer instructed him to cease his threatening behavior, but the suspect refused to comply and repeated the threat in front of the officer.
When the officer attempted to apprehend the suspect, a physical struggle ensued, during which the suspect struck the officer, causing significant injuries.
Following the altercation, the suspect fled the scene and is currently being sought by the Porus police. The injured officer was promptly taken for medical treatment and has been placed on sick leave.
Two Suspects Accused in Flower Hill, St James Homicide.
Detectives from the Freeport Police Department have indicted two men for the fatal shooting of a woman and the wounding of her female relative at their Flower Hill, St James residence in March 2024. The suspects are identified as 57-year-old Wilfred Cooke, also known as ‘Kong,’ and 21-year-old Lavaughn Cooke, also known as ‘Jah-Jah,’ both from the Flower Hill District in St James.
The police have charged the men with the murder of 36-year-old security guard Nastacia Smith on Sunday, March 17, 2024, and with wounding with intent.
The Freeport police report that around 3:30 p.m. on the day in question, Smith and her relative were at home with other family members when the two men, armed with guns, entered the premises and fired shots at them through a bedroom window before fleeing the scene.
Responding officers found Smith lying on her back with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency services transported Smith and the injured relative to the hospital, where Smith was pronounced dead, and the other woman received treatment.
Following an investigation, the police arrested and charged both suspects.
Their court date is yet to be scheduled.
A taxi operator was shot by a gunman in Spanish Town.
Shooting Incident in Spanish Town Under Investigation
Detectives from the Spanish Town PD in St Catherine are currently investigating a shooting incident involving a taxi operator, which occurred on Friday, May 3, 2024. The police report that at approximately 4:30 p.m., the taxi operator was driving along Young Street when a passenger revealed a firearm and proceeded to open fire, striking the driver in the neck.
Following the shooting, the driver maneuvered the vehicle into a barrier, causing the gunman to be ejected from the car before driving himself to the hospital. The driver was admitted in serious but stable condition. Subsequently, the gunman fled the scene on foot.
Upon police arrival, the motor car was thoroughly inspected, and a Smith and Wesson magazine containing eight .40 cartridges was discovered on the floor behind the driver’s seat. The investigation into this grave incident is ongoing.
