‘Keep me out of your fabrications,’ Health and Wellness Minister Chris Tufton told bloggers.

Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton has warned bloggers sternly, cautioning them to refrain from implicating him in falsehoods, emphasizing that such actions could result in severe legal consequences. His statement comes in response to a widely circulated TikTok video in which a woman made specific allegations linking him to a funeral home.

It has come to light that certain bloggers associated with the Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) have been actively propagating these claims across various social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and YouTube.

In his Instagram and X posts on Thursday, Tufton emphasized that the dissemination of falsehoods undermines trust and can have serious legal implications. He urged individuals to abstain from spreading misinformation, stating that deceitful news, especially for political motives, is detrimental to everyone.

Following his post on X, users urged the minister to pursue legal action against those responsible for spreading the alleged misinformation about him.

In a show of support, Tufton’s son, Charles, defended his father on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, after a well-known PNP blogger joined others in perpetuating the supposed misinformation about Tufton. Charles promptly clarified the legal implications, stating, “A statement that is inaccurate and injurious to a person’s reputation is known as libel. Be guided accordingly,” in response to a woman on X.

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, a Kingston parish judge mandated Natalie Nelson and Aaliyah Daye to provide their fingerprints to the police during their appearance in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court.

The accusation against Nelson and Daye involves unlawfully entering the complainant’s room by using a grinder to breach the locks and then stealing money from a safe in her bedroom.

The prosecution asserts that only one of the accused women was aware of the safe and its contents.

Accused of housebreaking and larceny, the women appeared before presiding judge Her Honour Luciana Jackson and are scheduled to return to court on May 17 for mention. Additionally, the court issued a subpoena for the complainant to testify in court.
