In a concerning development, the individual accused of the tragic deaths of two brothers has been offered bail.

Oran Dunn, the guy who got arrested and charged for the 2017 shooting deaths of brothers Patmore ‘Fruity’ Johnson and Ohan ‘Wissy Wassy’ Johnson in Albion, St James, scored a $1 million bail when he showed up in the St James Parish Court on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Dunn, who used to be on the St James police’s most wanted list, got bail from presiding Parish Judge Sasha-Marie Ashley after his lawyer, Charles Sinclair, made a successful bail application.

During the bail hearing, Sinclair argued that his client wasn’t going to run away, saying Dunn didn’t know he was a person of interest during the seven years since the murders. He also said that he turned himself in when Dunn found out he was wanted.

“Mr Dunn is saying he didn’t cause the death of anyone,” said Sinclair.

“He has never done anything wrong before; there is no record against him, and he surrendered to the police himself,” Sinclair added. The court also heard that the warrant for Dunn’s arrest hadn’t been submitted for the prosecution’s case file.

Judge Ashley then gave bail with up to two sureties under the condition that Dunn report to the police three times a week and surrender his travel documents with a stop order to prevent him from leaving the island. Dunn is expected to return to court on April 19, 2024.

It’s alleged that on July 16, 2017, a dispute broke out among residents in the tenement yard where the Johnson brothers lived. Several people reportedly made violent threats during the altercation.

The following day, the quarrel continued when the Johnson brothers argued with another man. During that altercation, a firearm was reportedly used, and both brothers were shot. They were taken to the hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
