Assistant Commissioner of Police Clifford Chambers has revealed that Suddean ‘Pinky’ Hylton, the businesswoman ruthlessly shot down in Darliston, Westmoreland, had deep ties to the criminal underworld. Not only was she the aunt of notorious gang leader Dwayne Minto, but she was also an active member of the gang herself, having been on bail for involvement in a murder case.
Astoundingly, Hylton’s bail conditions expressly forbade her from setting foot in Montego Bay. However, the forces of justice seemed unable to contain her activities, as her tragic demise suggests. The police strongly suspect that her murder is intricately linked to the ongoing gang conflicts in the St James police division.
The chilling incident unfolded at Hylton’s own business establishment in New Roads, Darliston, where she fell victim to a barrage of bullets. The police investigation uncovered a disturbing array of evidence at the scene, including spent casings of various calibers, damaged bullets, and even a lone cell phone.
Despite efforts to save her, Hylton succumbed to her injuries at the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, leaving a trail of questions and a stark reminder of the perilous consequences of criminal entanglements.

Reggae Girl Tarania Clarke’s Killer Sentenced to Six Years and Six Months in Prison.
Rushelle Foster, the woman found guilty of the 2019 stabbing death of 23-year-old national footballer Tarania Clarke, was sentenced on Friday, March 15, 2024, to six years and six months in prison for manslaughter.
The authorities initially charged the 24-year-old convict with murder, but she was sentenced by Justice Leighton Pusey after she was found guilty of manslaughter in January 2024.
The prosecution led evidence during the trial, which started on January 8, 2024, that on October 31, 2019, Foster and Clarke got embroiled in a dispute over a cell phone in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew, during which Foster allegedly used a knife to stab Clarke, also known as ‘Plum Plum’.
The Reggae Girlz midfielder, who was also the captain of the Waterhouse Football Club’s women’s team, was assisted to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The authorities later arrested and charged Foster.
She, however, maintained that the incident was an accident.
Foster also indicated that she had reached for her knife in self-defense.
Attorneys John Jacobs and Courtney Rowe represented Foster.
