A man has been officially charged by the authorities in St Catherine in connection with the discovery of over 100 rounds of ammunition and a pistol at his residence in Old Harbour.
The individual in question is Charlie Michael Goodwin, a 51-year-old businessman residing in Begonia Crescent, Marlie Mount, Old Harbour, St Catherine, and in Florida, United States.
Goodwin has been charged by the police for illegal possession of ammunition. The arrest took place on the evening of February 18, 2024, at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, subsequent to the discovery of ammunition in his luggage during a routine search.
After conducting an investigation, the police searched the suspect’s home in Old Harbour, where they allegedly found a Sig Sauer pistol together with 110 rounds of 9mm cartridges concealed in a piece of furniture.
Following further inquiries, Goodwin was formally charged. His court appearance is awaited.
Two men are charged with possession of an illegal firearm.
Law enforcement officers in Trelawny have charged two suspects with breaches of the Firearms Act in connection to the seizure of a firearm and ammunition during an operation in the Red Hills Pond community in Wakefield, Clarendon, on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
The suspects, identified as Hussani Morgan, also known as ‘San,’ aged 33, and Rushane Jackson, aged 28, a construction worker, both residents of the Red Hills Pond community, were charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
According to the Falmouth police, at approximately 5:45 a.m. on the specified day, a team of police officers carried out an operation in the community. Upon searching the premises, the officers reportedly discovered a black Sig SP 2009 pistol with a magazine containing five 9mm rounds of ammunition.
Consequently, Morgan and Jackson were taken into custody and subsequently charged after a question-and-answer session conducted by the officers.
Their appearance in court is pending.
Suspect Arrested and Charged After Alleged Shooting Incident
Detectives in Westmoreland have arrested and charged a suspect after an alleged shooting incident in the community of Smithfield on January 22, 2024.
The suspect, identified as Odane’ Cow Pain’ Rowe, has been charged with shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, malicious destruction of property, and using a firearm to commit a felony.
Reports indicate that on January 22, 2024, at approximately 7:50 a.m., the complainant was standing along the roadway in Smithfield when Rowe allegedly confronted him and opened fire.
Fortunately, the complainant escaped unharmed. However, the gunfire caused damage to his motor vehicle, estimated at $50,000.
Following an investigation, Rowe surrendered to the authorities in the presence of his attorney on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. He was formally charged on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
The suspect’s court appearance date is pending.
Two Suspects Arrested and Charged for Shooting Incident in St Catherine
Gum Shoes, attached to the Spanish Town Police Department in St Catherine, have apprehended and formally charged two individuals believed to be responsible for a shooting that took place along Burke Road on Tuesday morning, February 20, 2024.
The suspects, identified as Jevon James, also known as ‘Rum Belly,’ and Ronalda Knight, have been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of ammunition, conspiracy, and shooting with intent.
Reports indicate that at approximately 5:00 a.m., the victim was walking along Burke Road in St Catherine when both individuals allegedly opened fire at him. Fortunately, the victim escaped unharmed and promptly reported the incident to the authorities.
Following an extensive investigation, authorities successfully arrested the suspects. Subsequently, they were charged after a thorough interrogation process on February 21, 2024. The date for their court appearance is yet to be determined.
