Demoy Pennington, a man from St. Mary, who cops charged on June 30, with the alleged robbery and sexual assault of a woman he met on the Tinder dating application, is now facing additional charges. Moreover, these new charges relate to a separate incident involving another woman he also reportedly met online.
On Friday, July 3, investigators charged 33-year-old Demoy Pennington, a resident of the Tremolsworth district in Highgate, with larceny by trick and unauthorized access to computer data. In addition, these charges stem from allegations that he stole belongings from a second woman, including her bank cards. He made approximately $100,000 in unauthorized transactions.
According to the Constant Spring police, the woman met Pennington through a dating app on Sunday, April 26.
After communicating for a while, they agreed to meet the next day in Half-Way Tree. During their outing, Pennington reportedly drove the woman to the Temple Hall main road in St. Andrew. There, he stopped at a supermarket and gave her money to buy bottled water.
While the woman was inside the supermarket, Demoy Pennington allegedly drove away with her belongings. These included two cell phones, approximately $80,000 in cash, bank cards, and personal documents.
The woman later discovered that unauthorized transactions totaling around $100,000 had been made from her bank accounts using the stolen bank cards. Additionally, she reported the matter to the police, who initiated an investigation.
Investigators subsequently arrested Pennington and charged him after the woman pointed him out on an ID parade on July 3.
