During the court appearance on January 10, 2024, Popcaan pleaded guilty to several charges, including using indecent language, disorderly conduct, using abusive and calumnious language, and issuing a threat to police officers. Although he accepted responsibility for these infractions, he chose not to address the police when given the opportunity.

A postponed hearing for the Noise Abatement Act breaches is scheduled for February 9, 2024, as it was revealed that the permit for the event was not issued in Andrae Sutherland’s name. Subsequently, Judge Sanchia Burrell imposed a sentence of $1500 or 10 days of imprisonment on each count.

Matthew Hyatt, one of Popcaan’s legal representatives, spoke on his behalf outside the courthouse, expressing Popcaan’s continued sense of grievance. He emphasized that his client had chosen not to speak to the police, remaining resolute in his position.

This situation reflects a complex and challenging time for Popcaan, and it is clear that he is navigating difficult circumstances with his choices.

An adolescent, 14, tragically lost his life today in a police shooting at 100 Lane on Red Hills Road, St Andrew, Wednesday afternoon, January 10, 20234.

The victim, Rasheem Wilson, was a student at Pembroke Hall High School. Reports indicate that the incident took place around 1:30 p.m. The police assert that the teenager was involved in a shootout with law enforcement officers.

However, his grandmother and local residents refute this claim, alleging that the police unjustly took the boy’s life. According to his grandmother, he was peacefully engrossed in a video game when the tragic event occurred. The grandmother and other residents are demanding justice.

Law enforcement authorities are investigating the incident. The Independent Commission of Investigations is also investigating.

The police claim that they are vigorously pursuing all leads in Wednesday’s shooting of two men in a suspected robbery near Jamaica House on Hope Road, St Andrew.

The police assert that investigators have obtained CCTV footage that may be crucial to the investigation.

The victims were taken to the hospital for treatment.

One of the injured men is reportedly the son of a prominent businessman.

It is alleged that around 3:01 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, the men stopped to fix a flat tire, and they were attacked by gunmen on a motorbike.

The assailants proceeded to rob them and then opened fire, injuring the men.

The police stated that officers on duty at the security post at Jamaica House heard the gunshots and went to investigate.

There were purported shots exchanged with the robbers, who then fled the scene.

The injured men were subsequently assisted with medical treatment.

Both the police and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) are said to be looking into the shooting.
