Thugs in Clarendon gunned down a man as he opened his gate.

CLARENDON, Jamaica – On Thursday night, September 7, 2023, unknown assailants attacked, chopped, and gunned down a man in McDonald District in Crooked River, Clarendon, as he and his seven-year-old son walked home from a wake. 

The police identified the deceased as Fitzroy Ricketts, o/c ‘Chewie,’ age 38, a farmer from the Crooked River community.

According to reporting, at about 9:40 p.m., September 7, 2023, Ricketts and his seven-year-old son were at a wake in the community. The child complained that he wanted to sleep. So, Ricketts decided to take the child home. 

The police said Ricketts and his son reached home safely. Upon opening his gate, armed men opened gunfire at him.

He ran, but the thugs chased and killed him in the bushes. The child ran back to the wake and made an alarm.

Residents alerted the police. Upon arrival, the police found Ricketts’ body in the bushes, suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and chop wounds to the neck, approximately 150 meters from the house.

Authorities at the May Pen hospital pronounced Ricketts dead on arrival.

The police did not establish a motive for the attack. The May Pen police are investigating.

The Charleston police charged a Clarendon DJ with rape.

The Chapleton police charged a well-known Clarendon DJ after a woman accused him of raping her in the Lower Chapleton community on September 3, 2023.

Police identified the suspect as Jevin Douglas, age 27, a DJ from Lower Chapleton, Clarendon. 

According to the complainant, at about 12:45 p.m. on September 3, 2023, she interacted with Douglas while walking to a shop in the community. 

The police said an altercation developed between the two people, and Douglas allegedly offered the complainant money for sexual acts. The complainant refused—and a physical struggle ensued.

Douglas allegedly overpowered the complainant, restrained her, and sexually assaulted her.

The victim reported the incident to the police. The police launched an investigation.

On September 6, 2023, the police arrested and charged the suspect.

His court appearance date is pending.

Two Jamaican women extradited to the US on fraud and murder charges.

 ST JAMES, Jamaica — On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the Jamaican government extradited two women to the United States. The women who are wanted on fraud charges by US authorities got arrested by Jamaican law enforcement officers on separate charges in St. James in July.

The police identified the suspects as Sereika Goodison, 36, a customer service representative from Paradise Acres, Norwood Meadows in St. James, and Iyana Reynolds, age 39, a resident of Tortuga Crescent, Greenwood, St. James. The police arrested the women during separate special operations.

Goodison is wanted in the US for mail fraud, wire fraud, and lottery scamming, while Reynolds is wanted for murder and other serious offenses.

Members of the Jamaica Fugitive Apprehension Team (JFAT), Lottery Scam Task Force (LSTF), Area 1 Operational Support Team, and counterparts from the USA conducted the operations.
