The Police High Command is yet to establish a motive for the murder of People’s National Party Councillor for the Southboro Division, Ainsley ‘Tyson’ Parkins.
According to reporting, armed thugs shot and killed Parkins as he sat in his stationary vehicle on Thursday morning, July 20, 2023, at about 9:45 along Laurel Road in Southboro, Portmore, St. Catherine.
The police said the gunmen pumped fifteen shots into Parkin’s body. And hospital authorities pronounced him dead on arrival.
JCF top Gum Shoe, DCP Fitz Bailey, visited the crime scene and told the media a police patrol in the area at the time of the shooting heard the shots and responded.
“When they came, they found him slumped in the front of his vehicle, leaning toward the passenger seat. Based on our assessment, it is obvious that the shooter or shooters were very close to him, but we have no further information regarding how it happened,” he said.

The top sleuth said the Police High Command had assembled a team of top-tier investigators from CIB headquarters and the Major Investigation Division.
“I am appealing to members of the public who may have seen or heard anything to call us at 311 or 811 with any information you have,” he urged.

In the meantime, DCP Bailey dismissed speculations that Parkins’ murder may have been connected to the May 26, 2022, shooting death of JLP councilor/caretaker for the Southboro Division, Lennox Hines, along Marcus Garvey Drive.
“We have no such evidence at this time. As I said, it’s early days, and we will not make any assumptions. We will do our investigation, and we are very open in our approach to this investigation,” Bailey insisted.
