KINGSTON, Jamaica – The Jamaica Constabulary Force is cracking down on merchants offering counterfeit goods. The latest crackdowns occurred on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at a store located at 24 West Parade, Downtown Kingston, where the cops confiscated about $200 million worth of counterfeit goods.

Assistant Superintendent Victor Barrett of Intellectual Property Rights CTOC said the operation at 24 West Parade is part of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s ongoing efforts to “rid the streets” of counterfeit goods.

“On close inspection of this store, we discovered a large quantity of Crocks, Nike, Puma, and Tommy Hilfiger, in all shapes and sizes, and a rough estimate puts this store to be around $200 million worth of goods. Because there is a warehouse inside this store with massive counterfeit goods,” Barrett said.

The court granted the alleged pregnant murderer a $400,000 bail bond.

According to Judicial Eye reporting, Rochelle Watson, the 18-year-old pregnant woman from Mount Ogle, St Andrew, who allegedly stabbed and killed Ryan West, was granted a bond for $400,000 with surety by the presiding judge when she showed up in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

The police had charged with the murder of 29-year-old Ryan West of Mount Ogle.

According to the allegations, Watson, o/c ‘Miss Chin,’ and the deceased had a squabble on July 8, 2023–during which Watson used a knife and stabbed West in the upper body. West died on the spot.

In making the bail application, Watson’s attorney, Ayisha Robb Cunningham, asked the honorable judge to consider the accused’s age and the reality that she was bearing a child.

The judge granted the bond with conditions– Watson must not contact any of the witnesses, and she must relocate. 

Watson is to return to court on September 13, 2023.

Police charged a tattoo artist with the fatal stabbing of a Portland businessman.

Detectives assigned to the Port Antonio CIB have arrested and charged a tattoo with the fatal stabbing of businessman Robert Grant as he was purchasing items at a bookstore on Harbour Street in Port Antonio, Portland, on Monday, July 17, 2023.

The police identified the accused as Rishton ‘Gaza’ Ramah, age 28, a tattoo artist from Port Antonio, Portland.

The allegations are that at about 4:05 pm on July 17, 2023, Grant was at the store purchasing items when Ramah attacked him with a knife. A struggle ensued, during which Ramah inflicted several wounds to Grant’s upper body.

Concerned citizens summoned the police. The police transported Grant to the hospital, where he died.

The police acted quickly and arrested Ramah. The police recovered a knife from the crime scene.

Ramah’s court appearance date is pending.
