The East Kingston police have reported that their detectives have taken five Burger King employees, including a supervisor from the Harbor View store, into custody on an allegation that they fleeced their employer for approximately $9.7 million during the first quarter of 2023.
The Commanding officer of the Kingston Eastern Police Division, Superintendent Tommie-Lee Chambers, confirmed that the suspects were taken into custody on Sunday, April 2, 2023, concerning the multimillion-dollar fraud.
Superintendent Chambers said she was not clear on the details of the alleged committed, but allegations are that the employees pocketed the funds after voiding orders that customers legitimately placed.
Restaurants Associates Limited of Jamaica managed the Burger King franchise and declined to comment on the case.
The Harborview police are conducting the investigation, which will get turned over to the Fraud Squad in short order.
Double murder in No Man’s Land
West Kingston detectives have launched a high-level investigation into the fatal shooting of two men along Asquith Road, also known as ‘No Mans Land.’
According to reports, residents found the bodies Monday morning, April 3, 2023. But according to some residents, at about 11:00 pm Sunday, April 2, 2023, they heard loud explosions sounding like gunshots in the area.
A taxi driver is reportedly among the dead.
Residents found one of the bodies in bushes near a white Toyota taxi cab. They found the other body in the taxi.
Edith Dalton James student shot in the neck while walking to school.
KINGSTON, Jamaica – According to the police, A 16-year-old male student of Edith Dalton James School was shot in the neck as he walked to school on Monday morning, April 3, 2023.
The zone commander of the Duhaney Park Police Station, ASP Coleridge Minto, said the boy is recovering.
Minto said the incident happened at about 10:30 am Monday, April 3, 2023. The boy was walking to school when he heard a loud explosion, felt a burning sensation at the back of his neck, and realized he had gotten shot.
Luckily the child could run to school, where he received first aid and was later taken to seek medical attention.
“We are happy he’s alive and is now in a state of recovery. It is unfortunate that our students, who are on their way to or from school, can be meted out with this form of incident.”

ASP Minto implores any resident with information about the incident to visit, call Duhaney Park Police Station, or call 119. He added that the police would work diligently to bring justice to the person responsible for the cruel act.
