Noel Maitland: Deliveryman Testifies About Sofa Transport. The Noel Maitland Homicide case continued in the Home Circuit Court on Wednesday, July 9. During the proceedings, the well-known deliveryman testified. He said Police Constable Noel Maitland hired him. The job was to transport a sofa from his apartment in New Kingston to Half-Way Tree.

The witness is the owner of the famous pickup truck that is part of the evidence in this case. He stated that he was outside at Phil’s Hardware on Constant Spring Road in St Andrew, Jamaica. He was soliciting customers there. A colleague named Carlos, now deceased, contacted him to discuss a job opportunity.

He stated that when he arrived, Noel Maitland—who was a stranger to him at the time—was sitting nearby in his car. According to the witness, Noel Maitland requested help picking up a sofa from New Kingston and delivering it to Half-Way Tree.

Maitland instructed him to drive behind his vehicle, and the witness followed in his truck, accompanied by Carlos.

The witness said he dropped off the sofa at a car wash. After that, he was paid $5,000. Then he and Carlos got back in the truck and left.
