Law enforcement identified the accused as Sherlyn Taylor, also known as ‘Sunshine,’ 49, of Hollywood Drive, Hayes, in Clarendon.

According to the Lionel Town police, on April 29, at about 9:00 a.m., 2025, the complainant allegedly gave Taylor permission to collect $150,000 and hand it over to a relative.

However, after collecting the money, Taylor did not hand it over to the relative as promised.

The complainant tried to retrieve the money from Taylor, but she did not return it within a reasonable time.

So, the complainant filed a criminal report with the police, who launched an investigation.

On Thursday, May 15, 2025, the police arrested Taylor during a raid at her home.

Investigators later charged her with fraudulent conversion.

If convicted, Taylor faces a fine not exceeding three million dollars. Alternatively, Taylor might face imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years. It is also possible that Taylor could receive both such a fine and imprisonment.

The authorities set her court appearance date for May 30, 2025, before the Clarendon Parish Court in Lionel Town.

At approximately 3:45 a.m., officers responded to a tip about suspicious activity near the cell block. They spotted two men in black hoodies, one armed with a machete.

When the police approached, one man fled while the other advanced aggressively despite being ordered to drop his weapon.

In response, an officer fired his service pistol but fell to the ground. As the suspect continued to advance, another officer fired his weapon, striking the assailant, who then collapsed.

A search found that the suspect had a quantity of vegetable matter resembling ganja. The suspect also had a bag containing a cell phone, a charger, and tobacco.

The authorities rushed the injured man to the hospital, where hospital officials pronounced him dead.
