Police charged an alleged York Avenue gang member with murder.
York Avenue Gang Member Faces Murder and Gun Charges. Police in the St Andrew South Division say they have charged a known top shooter. The shooter is aligned with the York Avenue gang. The charges are in connection with a murder committed on Modyford Road, Kingston 11, on October 16, 2024.
He is Nicola Reid, a 31-year-old unemployed man living on Barton Road in Westchester, Portmore, St. Catherine.
The police believe Reid has also worked as a contract killer throughout the Kingston Metropolitan Region and other parts of Jamaica.
Law enforcement arrested Reid during a targeted police operation. The police say this arrest followed intense investigations. They gathered critical evidence.
He was interviewed in the presence of his attorney and later charged with murder and multiple firearm-related offenses.
The police say this is in addition to other gun-related charges Reid is already facing, along with other matters under investigation.
The St Andrew South Police are urging anyone with information to contact them. This information will help in this or other investigations involving Reid.
Further, the police reassured the public that all tips would stay confidential.
Driver injured in car overturn on Salt Marsh main road
TRELAWNY, Jamaica — A driver sustained injuries when his car overturned on the Salt Marsh main road in Trelawny. He was rushed to Falmouth Public General Hospital early Friday morning.
The accident occurred around 7:00 a.m. and caused significant delays for morning commuters due to heavy traffic in the area.
The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to the hospital for treatment by a passing motorist. His condition is not presently known.
Emergency personnel, including firefighters and police, responded to the scene.
The Trelawny police are investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.
