Fugitive shot dead: Barnett Street police lockup escapee killed in police shoot-out
Fugitive Shot Dead by Police in St. James Operation. On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, law enforcement shot and killed a fugitive. This happened during an operation to capture him in Mazeland, Cambridge, St James, Jamaica.
Fugitive Shot Dead. Law enforcement identified the deceased as Daniel McIntosh. He was one of several prisoners who escaped the Barnett Street Police Station lock-up. The escape occurred in St. James on December 14, 2024.
The police report that at about 3:30 a.m. on April 1, cops went to the premises with a search warrant. McIntosh and other wanted persons were hiding in the community.
Upon arrival, the police team knocked on the door, shouted police, and asked the occupants to open the door. Nobody responded, but the police heard movement inside the premises.
As a result, law enforcement breached the door and saw McIntosh holding a gun, which he reportedly pointed at them.
Fugitive Shot Dead. In fear for their lives, the officers reportedly took evasive action and fired at him. A shoot-out ensued.
When the shooting ceased, the police found McIntosh suffering from gunshot wounds. He was clutching an AK47 rifle with a magazine containing four 7.62mm ammunition.
Law enforcement swiftly transported McIntosh to the Cornwall Regional Hospital, where the medical staff pronounced him dead.
Investigators from St James PD and the Independent Commission of Investigations are conducting separate probes into the shooting.
Hoodlums shot and injured a construction worker in an attempted robbery
Police responded to Naggo Head, Portmore, St Catherine, early Wednesday morning, April 2, 2025.
Unknown assailants reportedly held up, shot, and attempted to rob an unsuspecting motorist of his motor vehicle.
The police reported that two robbers tried to mug a 53-year-old construction worker. This took place on Casinor Lane around 2:10 PM. But their efforts were unsuccessful. During the incident, the victim was shot and sustained injuries. He has since been taken to Spanish Town Hospital for treatment.
The Portmore police have launched an investigation into the matter.
