Major Firearms Seizure in Kingston: 30 Guns + Ammo Seized. On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) conducted a major operation and seized 30 firearms and over 100 rounds of ammunication. The Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) partnered with them.

The joint operation was a testament to the effectiveness of collaborative law enforcement. It resulted in the seizure of 30 firearms. Additionally, over 100 rounds of ammunition were seized. This successful operation occurred at a warehouse on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston, Jamaica.

According to reports, the targeted operation unfolded at about 4:45 p.m. The joint law enforcement team conducted security screenings at the premises and intercepted the contraband.

Major firearms seizure. During the search, law enforcement recovered 24 pistols, six rifles, 32 magazines, and 102 rounds of ammunition.

Senior Superintendent of Police Samuel Blake leads the FNID. He announced that law enforcement has intensified efforts. They are working in collaboration with various stakeholders. Their aim is to disrupt the flow of weapons and illegal drugs in Jamaica.

“Every firearm seized is a victory for the JCF and Jamaica. We continue our relentless work to find individuals seeking to upend the JCF’s violence reduction efforts,” said SSP Blake.

SSP Blake also highlighted the JCF’s commitment to global cooperation. He stated that the JCF is actively strengthening its collaboration with international organizations to dismantle crime syndicates.

This is the second seizure of its kind in recent months. On January 17, members of the JCA and FNID confiscated 66 firearms. They also seized 4,700 rounds of ammunition in Newport West, Kingston.

The police indicted a dual citizen in connection with that major firearms seizure.

Law enforcement has launched a comprehensive investigation into Tuesday’s guns and ammo seizure. Their unwavering commitment and ongoing efforts are aimed at finding everyone involved and keeping the public informed and safe.

On December 11, 2024, authorities made another major firearms seizure.

A final count revealed that officers found 52 guns hidden in five barrels at a wharf in Kingston. They were concealed within a shipment from the United States labeled as groceries and clothing.

The JCA reported that the shipment was labeled as groceries and clothing. It contained 50 assorted pistols and two rifles. There were also 2,992 rounds of various ammunition and 61 different magazines.

Additionally, other illegal items found in the shipment included a rifle barrel, two rifle butt stocks, and one rifle grip. There was also a rifle iron front sight post and 12 rifle accessories.

The shipment also contained four pistol slides and three pistol lower receivers.
