Police Shootings under Investigation in St Mary And St Catherine. A fatal police shooting that unfolded in St Mary on Friday, December 6, has been the topic of a probe by the Independent Commission of Investigations.

Law enforcement identified the deceased as Sheldon White. He was shot and killed by the security forces during an operation at an unfinished house in Huddersfield, Rio Nuevo.

Reportedly, INDECOM said an early police report stated that cops from the St Ann Operation Support Team were on a targeted operation in search of White.

During a search of the targeted premises, White allegedly pointed a gun at the police. In fear for their lives, the police opened fire in response, hitting White.

After the police shooting officers transported him to the hospital, where officials pronounced him dead.

Members of the operation reportedly revered one 9mm P80 pistol at the scene. The police have yet to report whether the gun was loaded.

INDECOM announced the completion of the examination, processing, and packaging of the evidential material. The body of the deceased man has been photographed and sealed, awaiting post-mortem examination.

Each officer involved provided a preliminary account of the fatal fatal police shooting.

According to INDECOM, one officer reported that he was wearing a body-worn camera during the incident.

As of December 7, 172 persons have been shot and killed by the security forces, four of which occurred in December.

Around 9:00 p.m., a police team was conducting a vehicular checkpoint on the Sligoville roadway. An an officer signaled a biker to stop and he disobeyed the lawful order.

Instead of stopping, he allegedly used his bike as a weapon and struck the officer, injuring his foot.

A colleague reportedly went to aid the injured police officer.

When the officer approached to help his colleague, the motorcyclist rode toward them. To protect himself and his injured officer, the colleague opened fire.

The 21-year-old biker was hit in his leg. He was taken to hospital, where the authorities admitted him under police guard.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has been busy probing four police shootings so far in December.
