Jamaica Murder Statistics: 25 Murders Between December 1-7. Crime and violence, particularly murder, are significant issues in Jamaica. According to Jamaica murder statistics, at least one person dies every day due to crime, violence, or actions by the security forces.

Recent murder statistics released by the Jamaica Constabulary Force indicated that more than three murders were reported each day during the first seven days of December. According to the JCF, there were a total of 25 murders committed in Jamaica during this period.

Therefore, as of December 7, Jamaica’s murder toll stood at 1,085, which is 234 fewer than it was in 2023. The decrease equates to an 18 percent drop. This decrease is attributed to the work the security forces are doing as reflected in the Jamaica murder statistics.

Included in last week’s Jamaica murder statistics was the brutal slaying of a police officer at a gas station Friday night.

Saleem Fitzgerald-Cop Killer.

The authorities have identified the slain veteran police officer as Corporal Christopher Smith. Smith was assigned to the Kingston Western Police Division. We hope his soul rest in eternal peace, as noted in the Jamaica murder statistics.

According to the police, around 11 o’clock on Friday, December 6, 2024, Corporal Smith drove his private vehicle to the Texaco gas station on Beechwood Avenue in St. Andrew. Unbeknownst to Smith, an armed robbery was in progress at the station.

Minutes after Smith parked his vehicle, one of the gunmen ambushed him. The gunman then opened fire on the unsuspecting cop, hitting him multiple times. Afterward, the gunman relieved him of his firearm, as part of the tragic Jamaica murder statistics.

The police have pledged to leave no stone unturned in their search for Corporal Smith’s killer, ensuring that justice will be served.

Entering the month of December, Jamaica had recorded 1,060 over the 11 months in 2024. But the wanton disregard for life escalated in the first week of December.

The latest murder statistics also show that two police divisions have surpassed 100 murders so far this year. The St James division has astonishingly recorded 120 murders, and the St Andrew South is not far behind with 115.

According to Jamaica murder statistics, Portland continues to be the parish with the fewest murders, with 13 this year.

Shootings, injured persons, rape, robbery, and break-ins have all declined year-on-year, contributing to a safer Jamaica.
