Cassava Piece Shooting: Police Manhunt Underway.

Cassava Piece shooting suspects are on the run as police intensified their search for the culprits. The St Andrew North police said six people were wounded, one fatally, during a mass shooting on Wednesday night in Cassava Piece.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Kelly-Ann Bernard, a mother of three children.

Five people remain hospitalized, including one man whose condition is considered critical.

The victims were among a group of patrons engaged in a game of dominoes at a shop around 7:34 p.m. when attackers exited a vehicle and unleashed a barrage of gunfire without regard.

The injured were transported to the hospital in separate vehicles, one of which was involved in a collision along Mannings Hill Road.

At least one individual who was not shot, sustained injuries due to the accident.

The Gleaner has learned that a significant police operation took place in another area of Cassava Piece on Wednesday night.

Ongoing operations are taking place in various sections of the division.

As of October 5, the St Andrew North police division reported 51 murders, marking a 16 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

There is a 14% rise in reported shootings, with 56 incidents documented compared to 49 during the same period in 2023.

Second Suspect Arrested in St. Ann Abduction Case.

The St. Ann police have apprehended a second suspect in connection with the alleged rape and abduction of a female on Saturday. Police apprehended the 24-year-old businessman during a police operation on Wednesday afternoon.

So far, law enforcement has arrested two of the three men allegedly involved in committing the serious crimes.

Reportedly, law enforcement executed a targeted raid in search of the suspect at the Eight Rivers Plaza in Ocho Rios.

According to reports, three women traveled to spend the weekend at an Airbnb at Pyramid Heights in Ocho Rios with the three men.

It is alleged that one of the suspects brandished a firearm at one of the women and demanded sexual favors.

Additionally, another suspect is reported to have raped the woman.

The three women were reportedly confined within the property by the three men.

After receiving a call, the police responded; upon arrival, two of the suspects fled, leaving one man behind.

Reportedly, the cops arrested the suspect on suspicion of forceful abduction, rape, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Sources say the cops have intensified efforts to locate the third suspect.
