MANCHESTER, Jamaica: Tragedy struck a bar in Christiana, Manchester on Wednesday night as a man was fatally shot, marking the third murder in the parish within a span of 24 hours.
The victim, 29-year-old carpenter Romario White from Silent Hill, was identified by his grieving relatives. Reports from the police show that the assailant entered the bar around 7:50 p.m., swiftly drawing a firearm and firing at White before fleeing the scene.
Rushed to the Percy Junior Hospital in Spading by concerned patrons, White succumbed to his injuries despite efforts to save him.
Councilor David Knight of the People’s National Party, representing the Walderston division, conveyed deep concern about the surge in violent crime in Manchester. He emphasized the urgent need to tackle the escalating shootings and murders, underlining the critical importance of fostering a secure environment for all citizens.
This recent incident follows closely on the heels of another fatal gun attack at a bar in Bottom Albion, Manchester, where two lives were tragically lost on Tuesday night.
As the Mandeville CIB takes charge of the investigation, the community is left reeling from the unsettling chain of events.

ST CATHERINE, Jamaica: A woman succumbed to injuries after she was hit by a taxicab early Thursday morning along Port Henderson Road in Portmore, St Catherine.
The police confirmed the tragic accident and said the victim remains unidentified.
Reports are that at about 5:20 a.m., a taxi operator was traveling along the Port Henderson roadway.
Upon reaching the section of the road near Blaze gas station, the woman reportedly ran into the vehicle’s path.
Despite the driver’s attempts to avoid her, the vehicle struck the woman violently. She collapsed in the roadway and later succumbed to her injuries.
The police responded and performed a breathalyzer test on the cab driver at the scene.
But the officers did not see signs of impairment.
The authorities asked anyone with information about the incident or the woman’s identity to contact the police.
