Police charged a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting on Howard Avenue.

The victim, 33-year-old Randy Wilson, a plumber at Jones Pen St, Catherine, was found dead with his hands and feet bound with a rope and multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. The discovery was made by residents around 9:05 a.m., who promptly alerted the authorities.

Following the police’s arrival, an operation was carried out in the area, leading to McFarlane’s subsequent arrest and charging. As of now, his court date remains pending.

Joel Hibbert, also known as ‘Papa’ or ‘Pops’, a 24-year-old construction worker from Delacree Lane, St Andrew, is facing serious charges. The Hunts Bay police have left no stone unturned in accusing him of murder, conspiracy to murder, using a firearm to commit a felony, shooting with intent, and possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition.

The victim of this heinous crime is twenty-one-year-old Dwayne Atkinson, a fellow construction worker from Uganda Drive, Kingston. It was a tragic morning on Thursday, February 22, 2024, when Atkinson and another man were ambushed by Hibbert and two others armed with deadly firearms while walking along Howard Avenue. In the brutal attack, Atkinson was fatally shot in the upper body, while the other man narrowly escaped.

The sound of gunfire echoed through the community, prompting residents to alert the police. Upon reaching the scene, they found Atkinson gravely wounded and rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Following a thorough investigation, Hibbert was apprehended and subsequently charged on Thursday, March 22, 2024, after being interrogated in the presence of his legal counsel. Now, he awaits his day in court to face the consequences of his alleged actions.

Three individuals were apprehended by law enforcement in the St Andrew Central Division on Friday, March 22, 2024, subsequent to the confiscation of an illicit firearm along Chambers Lane in St Andrew.

The police have not disclosed the identities of the suspects as they await further inquiries and formal charges.

According to the Matildas Corner police, a team of officers uncovered the firearm during a premises search at approximately 5:30 a.m.

The authorities have taken three individuals into custody in connection with the seizure.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
