Four lives were tragically lost in a pre-dawn motor vehicle collision in Trelawny on Sunday morning, February 18, 2024.
As reported by Loop News, the accident took place shortly after 3 a.m. when a Mark X motorcar carrying four individuals was en route to Falmouth. Tragically, it collided with an Audi motorcar traveling in the opposite direction near the Trelawny Multi-Purpose Stadium.
This devastating incident resulted in injuries to two individuals in the Audi and the four occupants of the Mark X. Regrettably, three individuals from the Mark X lost their lives at the scene, while the fourth succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The conditions of the Audi’s occupants, who were hospitalized, are currently unknown.
The collision led to a significant traffic buildup on the roadway, causing it to be reduced to a single lane. The Falmouth police have initiated an investigation into the incident. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of all those affected by this tragic event.

Law enforcement authorities in the St Catherine South Division have confirmed the devastating news of a 15-year-old boy’s untimely passing. The incident occurred when the boy fell from a bus that was part of a People’s National Party (PNP) motorcade in Southboro, Portmore, St Catherine, on Sunday afternoon, February 18, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m.
The young victim, identified as Lamar Grey from a Gregory Park address in Portmore, suffered fatal injuries after reportedly attempting to move from one bus to another. Tragically, he fell and sustained a fatal head injury. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the authorities could not save him. He succumbed to his injuries.

The People’s National Party (PNP) has vowed to provide all possible support to the family of a 15-year-old boy who tragically lost his life after falling from a bus during an election campaign motorcade in Southboro, Portmore, St. Catherine on Sunday afternoon.
On the evening of Sunday, February 18, 2024, the PNP expressed deep regret over the heartbreaking incident. Dr. Dayton Campbell, the General Secretary, offered heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this unimaginably difficult time.
“The PNP is unwavering in its commitment to support the family affected by this terrible tragedy. We are prepared to assist in any way possible and extend our deepest sympathies during this challenging period,” the statement affirmed, while also urging people to respect the family’s privacy.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grapple with the profound loss of a loved one.”
Additionally, the opposition party emphasized to its supporters the critical importance of heightened vigilance and attention to safety during the campaign period.
The young boy was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital, where his passing was tragically confirmed by hospital officials.
Man killed in confrontation at Hunts Bay police station identified.
Law enforcement authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation at the Hunts Bay police station in St Andrew on Saturday, February 17, 2024.
The deceased has been identified as Malachi Dawes, a 19-year-old resident of Olympic Way, Kingston 11.
Authorities stated that Dawes was observed near the lock-up, attempting to transport what seemed to be contraband into the premises. When approached by the police, Dawes reportedly fired at them. In response, the police took evasive measures and discharged their firearms, resulting in Dawes being fatally wounded.
A Glock 17 pistol was recovered from the scene, and Dawes was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.
According to a report from The Gleaner, it was disclosed that Dawes had breached the perimeter fence at the rear of the building.
In a separate incident in January, a confrontation erupted at the lock-ups between law enforcement personnel and detainees following the discovery of hidden contraband within the facility.
The case has been forwarded to the Independent Commission of Investigations, the oversight body responsible for police conduct.

Law enforcement officials from the Kingston Eastern Police Division made a significant seizure on Fernandez Avenue and Lacy Road in Franklyn Town, Kingston on Sunday, February 18, 2024. The authorities conducted a targeted raid at a premises on Fernandez Avenue and discovered a Glock 19 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eleven 9mm cartridges in a bathroom. Additionally, during the search of another premises on Lacy Road in the Franklyn Town community, a substantial sum of US$33,400 (over Ja$5 million) was found in a purse outside the house.
In connection with these seizures, six individuals were arrested and taken into custody. The suspects’ identities are currently being withheld as the police continue their investigation.
