Man killed in motor vehicle collision involving police in St. Elizabeth.
This incident occurred sometime after 2 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Rayon Forbes, a farmer from Brompton in St. Elizabeth.

Acting Superintendent Coleridge Minto, who heads the St. Elizabeth Police Division, has reported that the collision took place during a police pursuit of a vehicle. The police service vehicle was traveling in an easterly direction towards Santa Cruz when another motor car from a minor road on the left drove out, leading to a collision between the two vehicles. Multiple individuals from the Mark X and the police service vehicle sustained severe injuries and were promptly taken to the Black River Hospital.
According to reports, Mr. Forbes tragically passed away while trapped in the gray Mark X motor vehicle he had been driving. Three other men were also extracted from the vehicle and swiftly transported to the hospital, alongside the two police officers.
Acting Superintendent Minto has emphasized the importance of using the roadway with care, driving within the confines of the law, and ensuring strict observance of the necessary rules of the road.

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Three men from Kingston have been charged with multiple offenses related to a confrontation with the police on Rocky Road. The charges include two counts of shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.

The accused individuals are identified as Davin McGowan, an 18-year-old salesman; Fabian Henry, 27, a landscaper; and Savion Watt, 23, currently unemployed.
According to police reports, a team of officers attempted to stop the driver of a Toyota Crown motor vehicle in the Rocky Road community after the driver disregarded a traffic light between 2:45 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on February 12, 2024.
Allegedly, the driver failed to comply and continued driving, prompting the police to initiate a pursuit. The pursuit led to a confrontation, during which the men in the vehicle fired at the officers. In response, the officers returned fire. The vehicle subsequently crashed into an embankment, and the individuals fled the area.
Following surrendering to the authorities, the three suspects were formally charged after a question-and-answer session on Sunday, February 18, 2024. Their court dates are pending.
A Pregnant woman is arrested after attempting to smuggle in a police lock-up.
KINGSTON, Jamaica—The pregnant common-law partner of the St Andrew mechanic accused of killing paralegal Sandra Risden is now facing charges after attempting to smuggle contraband to him in police custody.
According to an article by Observer Online, the woman had brought food for her partner at the police lockups. During a routine security check of the container and its contents, a second container was discovered concealed beneath the one containing the food. Inside this container, the police found cigarette lighters, marijuana, packs of Rizzla, and cell phones.
The contraband was seized by the police, and the heavily pregnant woman was placed in custody. Her identity is being withheld by the authorities pending further investigation and formal charges.
Her partner, Ojo Russell, also known as ‘Jerry Stunts,’ a mechanic from a Woodpecker Avenue address in Kingston, is charged with murder, assault at common law, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorized possession of ammunition.
Allegedly, at about 7:05 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2024, Risden, 63, was driving along the roadway on Washington Boulevard in St Andrew when Russell and another man drove up on a motorcycle and opened fire, resulting in her death.
An off-duty officer pursued the assailants, prompting one of the men to point a firearm at him before escaping into the area.
