A Man Fatally Shot While Awaiting Transportation in Linstead
The authorities in St. Catherine are currently investigating the fatal shooting of a man who was awaiting transportation along King Street in Linstead on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
The deceased has been identified as Devon George Ashman, aged 57, a chef and resident of King Street in Linstead, St. Catherine.
According to the police report, at approximately 9:40 am, Ashman was waiting for transportation along the roadway in Linstead when an individual dressed in dark-colored clothing approached him. The assailant proceeded to pull out a firearm and shot Ashman multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Upon receiving the report, law enforcement responded promptly and provided assistance to Ashman, transporting him to the hospital. Regrettably, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
At present, the police have not been able to establish a motive for the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The man, identified as Collin Watts, 52, a land surveyor and resident of Hanbury in Mandeville, was reported missing on Monday, January 29, 2024. Police sources mentioned that investigators observed wounds on Watts’ body as they removed it from a ditch on Tangerine Drive.
A policeman was hospitalized after getting mowed down in a hit-and-run by a colleague.
A police officer is currently hospitalized after sustaining serious injuries in a hit-and-run involving a fellow member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
The officer was struck during a traffic stop along the North-South Highway last night.
The officer suffered severe head and body injuries, rendering him unconscious.
According to police reports, at approximately 11:40 pm on January 31, a team was conducting vehicle checkpoint duties along the highway in Unity Valley, St Ann. They signaled a speeding Toyota Probox to stop.
Instead of stopping, the driver initially slowed down, then suddenly accelerated, hitting the officer.
The injured officer was swiftly transported to the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Subsequent investigations by the police confirmed that the vehicle involved was registered to a police officer, who was identified as the driver at the time of the incident.
