In an interview with Nationwide at Five on Monday, December 18, 2023, Mr. Shields, who currently serves as the managing director at Shields Crime and Security Consultants, shared his expert insights. The news center at Nationwide has received information indicating that the original investigators responsible for Mrs. Silvera’s case are now under scrutiny for their handling of the preliminary investigations.

According to Mr. Shields, the first and foremost step in processing a death scene is the meticulous collection of evidence. Initial reports suggested that Mrs. Silvera died peacefully in her sleep on November 10, 2023. However, subsequent developments have compelled the police to upgrade their investigations to treat her death as a murder, as the post-mortem report revealed that she had sustained at least three gunshot wounds.

Mr. Shields stressed the importance of treating any sudden or unexplained death as a potential crime scene until proven otherwise. The primary objective of the police is to ensure that no external party is involved in the death and to determine whether a criminal act has taken place.

Furthermore, he emphasized that only individuals essential to the investigation should be granted access to the residence where the deceased individual was found. Contamination of the crime scene can significantly hamper the progress and effectiveness of a murder investigation, making it increasingly challenging to uncover the truth.

The insights provided by Mark Shields shed light on the meticulous procedures that law enforcement authorities must undertake to ensure a thorough investigation into cases of this nature.

Farmer killed after accompanying woman home after party.

Early Tuesday morning, December 19, 2023, the Point Hill Police Station in the St. Catherine North division received a distressing report of a shooting incident in Garden Hill.

The victim was identified as Omar Lennon, also known as ‘Go Go,’ a 42-year-old farmer residing in Lookout, Garden Hill, St Catherine. It is believed that he was ruthlessly attacked by two armed men while accompanying a female acquaintance to her home in the community at approximately 1:30 a.m.
