ST ANN, Jamaica – The St Ann police have confirmed a disturbing incident involving a lone gunman who targeted and robbed a respected Justice of the Peace. On Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the perpetrator seized the Justice of the Peace’s licensed firearm and a substantial sum of $40,000 in cash along the Bull Point main road in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

According to reports from Observer Online, the 74-year-old Justice of the Peace was ambushed while taking a moment to relieve himself along the roadside. Allegedly, around 11:00 am that morning, the JP, who is also a businessman, made a brief stop along the Bull Point main road to tend to his needs in a secluded area.
At that moment, a man approached him using his name, requesting an autograph on some photographs. Unfortunately, as the man drew closer, he swiftly brandished a concealed gun from his waistband. The JP was instructed to raise his arms above his head, completely defenseless.
The lone criminal proceeded to forcibly take possession of the JP’s licensed firearm, which was loaded with 17 rounds, as well as a substantial amount of $40,000 in cash. He swiftly escaped the scene in a waiting vehicle, leaving the JP in shock and disbelief.
In response to this distressing incident, the police have initiated an extensive search operation in an effort to apprehend the robber and retrieve the stolen items. The community’s safety and security are paramount, and law enforcement authorities are dedicated to ensuring justice is served.
Suspect charged with quadruple murder in Summerfield, Clarendon.
CLARENDON, Jamaica–The Clarendon police have officially filed charges against a suspect in the quadruple killing that took place in Summerfield, Chapelton, Clarendon, on October 4, 2023. The accused murderer, identified as 24-year-old Shalom Bent, also known as ‘Trey’ or ‘Badda Dan,’ has been taken into custody.

Witnesses recall the horrifying incident when Bent allegedly entered a local bar and unleashed a barrage of gunfire, tragically claiming the lives of Kish Brown (44), Tio Manning (29), Varel Manning (39), and Clifton Campbell (64).
Superintendent Carlos Russell of the Clarendon Police Division reported to Radio Jamaica News that the suspect was brought before the court on December 7 and has been remanded until January 11, 2024. Superintendent Russell expressed hope that the arrest and charging of Bent would bring a semblance of justice to the grieving families.
In a separate investigation, authorities apprehended Siran Walford, a 33-year-old security guard, in relation to the murder of Joseph McLean (31) in the Juno Crescent area. The police are actively seeking other individuals involved in that particular crime.
Furthermore, law enforcement has issued appeals for several wanted criminals to surrender themselves. The individuals sought are Kaheem Rowe of Free Town, wanted for murder; Panif Bloomfield wanted for shooting with intent; and Steve Francis, wanted for murder.
To ensure the safety and tranquility of Clarendon residents during the holiday season, Superintendent Russell emphasized an increased police presence and heightened efforts to eradicate criminal elements within the parish.
