KINGSTON, Jamaica–A team of law enforcement officers from the Hunts Bay police station responded to an SOS at Petrojam on Marcus Garvey Drive in St Andrew on Thursday morning, November 23, 2023, and interrupted what they believe was a plot to assassinate an employee of the State-owned oil refinery.

According to Jamaica Observer, which was the first to report the story, the police accosted three men sitting in a motor car in the Petrojam parking lot near gate #5. During a search of the car, the police found two firearms, each loaded with six bullets.
According to the report, which has not been confirmed, the intended target was the manager at Petrojam. The report also alleges that early investigations have revealed that another employee contracted the gunmen.
However, neither Petrojam nor law enforcement authorities confirm the allegation.
Petrojam General Manager Telroy Morgan issued a statement confirming the arrest of the three suspects.
“At approximately 6:25 am, three persons were apprehended by the police in the car park designated for contractors outside the property entry. The Hunts Bay Police are investigating the matter. We can, however, confirm that the individuals are not employees of Petrojam, nor does Petrojam contract them.”
