HALF WAY TREE, ST ANDREW, JAMAICA–Senior Parish Judge Lori-Anne Cole-Montaque has expressed disappointment with the number of matters coming before the Court that involve women fighting each other over men.
“I am sick and tired of women going after other women. I wouldn’t say I like that at all. Women are tearing down each other, and I don’t like it,” the Judge stressed.

The judge’s comments came after a complainant shared in court that she attacked the woman her husband had been staying with.
“You don’t know what your husband was telling the woman. You don’t know if he told her he is filing for a divorce. You don’t know if he told her she is the one he loves now or that sort of thing. You don’t know! I don’t like this thing,” the senior jurist added.

According to the allegations shared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Miguel Whylie, the complainant’s husband, assaulted her and damaged her wristwatch.
Whylie owes his wife money, and she visits the premises where he is staying with another woman. An altercation developed between the women.
The complainant said she attacked the other woman, causing her to fall and hit her head. Her husband intervened and began beating her with a broomstick and a rake, causing bruising and swelling on her body.
“I told her to call me when she was coming. She just popped up at the place, and I was upset about it,” Whylie explained.

Whylie explained that he was staying at the woman’s place because she was helping him get employment overseas. But his wife wanted him to avoid getting the help, and that was the reason she pressed charges against him.
The Court adjourned the matter until January 30, 2024, when it will decide on compensation.
